I'm a bit surprised you haven't done crossover yet.

nice progress :D

Got pictures of the slider failure?
And really hoping the pickup is the daily. Please let it be. Anymore info on it?

I was crawling through a riverbed and slowly dragged just the front of the slider over a rock and it went right up into the rocker. thank god i was able to drive off the rock without busting up the whole thing! ill post pics of the welds later

Have you ever actually needed four cans of fuel?

Martin

yup! for a grand total of 50 gallons of gas. when wheeling i average 10 mpg. so a total range of about 500 miles off road. i like to do long expedition style trips with my rig. im also going down to baja mexico nest year with a few race teams and i dont wanna rely on mexico having 91 octane gas

me too. since my steering wasnt an issue i didnt wanna dump a lot of money into something that isnt broke ya know? but i pretty much have all the pieces. just a drag link and pitman arm is needed

Once you lift one of these the steering is "broken" lol. You will like the steering mod.

I prefer to use rectangular tube as the base of my sliders and add round tube on the outside

It's Barry with an "a" if you are looking for him. Tell him I sent you!

Joking, don't tell him I sent you. He hates me.

Martin

This is weird. I commented on a pic of a blazer on facebook, and they responded by asking if I know Barry Cooper.

Guess I should try to look him up.

Got some work done yesterday.

Moved my license plate over and added a light. Also found out my 6 gallon water jug will fit on my jerry can rack! Also the jerry can rack can hold anything like firewood or a cooler if I don't need the Jerry cans

Gunna try and pull the tcase this week and reseal it and pray to god there is no cracking in the adapter. After that it's new rear shackles and time to fab a crossmember to support the tcase

pulled the tcase last week and just got it all put back together. good news no leaks so far. bad news there is a nasty vibration. feels heavier than ujoints and the whole rear driveshaft only has 500 miles on it. really freaking me out. I really feel it while accelerating and even while idling.

the only thing i changed is i raised the transmission crossmember 1". im thinking that had something to do with it. ill put it back to where it was and hope that its back to normal. in the mean time, any theories as to what may be causing it? I drained the transmition and tcase before i pulled the case. i put all the atf and tcase fluid back in. ill top it off too next chance i get.

I need this ready to go by thursday as im leaving to go on an offroading trip this weekend!

GOOD news is that my cooler fits in place of the jerrycans so thats a win!

Raising the t-case will mess with your driveline angles so that's a possibility. Try dropping the crossmember back down and see if it goes away.

I'll try that tomorrow. I still have to replace wheel seals in the front and shackles in the back before friday. I'm cutting it close!

Don't know how I missed this thread before.

Super clean K5!! I am kinda surprised at the original build and how much they left kinda half done and the things that broke along the way.

Odd to see a professional shop drop the crossmember and skip crossover steering.

Couple questions/statements

Did you ditch the Deavers for Tuff Country up front??

Your front axle is a 10 bolt

Keep the crossmember up and shim the axle for your angles.

Get crossover :waytogo:

Was told deavers... actually tuff country ez ride

All I need for crossover in the drag link and pitman arm

I'm looking for a dana 60 aha

I think there are some clearance issues with the crossmember up. Idk where yet but I think it has to do with the exhaust. With the 5.3 in there things were really close with the crossmember dropped so raising might have cause issues elsewhere. Especially since my driveline angle looks spot on.

Thanks for the compliments!

clean truck bro!!!!! we are gonna have to meet up at azusa a soon as i can get some time to finish my 6.0 swap

Do you have a slip yoke I your driveshaft? If so and you pulled it apart and got the joints out of phase it will cause vibration. Even if the clips on the joint are not line up it can cause it.

Nope it's a slip shaft with a flange. Only goes on and off 1 way. All I did was remove the driveshaft and re install it.

Turns out the vibration was because of the exhaust contacting a bolt on the frame. So I lowered the crossmember back and no issues. I'll have to move my exhaust mounts when I redo the crossmember
