I have a 1990 K5 and the rear suspension is very bouncy and looking at the truck it seems to sag just a little in the rear. I can't tell if it's the leaf springs or shocks. Any suggestions?
Its the springs that make it sag, the shocks that make it bouncy. Replace all 4 shocks with decent quality ones, and get a zero rate add a leaf to help raise the rear back to even.
I didn't think k5's came with a stock ubolt flip. Maybe it was just the trucks that didn't. That shock is looking a little weird, almost bent. New shocks certainly wouldn't hurt. You can have them checked but if the truck's bouncing that is an indication of bad shocks.
As already mentioned bad shocks typically cause the bouncing issue. However I'm looking at your pics and not real sure what the shiny u-bolt clamp thing on the springs is for (second pic down). It also looks like it's rubbing on the shock......this could be at least part of the issue?
