wuzzup guys, this is my dilemma, as you all know the hard tops for the newer blazers and jimmys are not user friendly and there is no fast wayt to just pop the top off. I am interested in eliminating my original tail gate and hard top and replacing it with something similiar to the YUKON. Tail gate folds down but glass on shell opens up thus eliminating the cluster of back power window problems which have frustrated me to no end. Has this been done, can it be? Is there a better solution to a faulty tail gate and a hard top that can only be taken off by a crane? help..............

Just do the reverse of what others have done. Chop off the back section of a barn door Burb and graft it on. That would be different.

A 73-87 pickup tailgate would address some of your issues -- it's lighter, simpler, and bolts right up in place of the original.

You would then need a plexiglass or similar window, hinged as appropriate.

Or just buy a newer truck, i.e. the Yukon you mention. Gonna be a LOT easier...
