'93 Olds Cutlass engine seizure & swap?

Hi. My daughter's Cutlass Supreme just seized up her engine (3.1L). It recently overheated. My son replaced some hoses, but it continued to run hot. She said it only smoked a little before she parked it. Now the engine won't turn over. Is it dead? Also, if you can help me, will the engine out of a Chev Cavalier fit? I found a low mileage one. My Hayne's manual lists similar car types of Buick Regal, Chev Lumina, and Pontiac Grand Prix. But not Cavalier. Thanks a lot.

GM put the 3.1 in a lot of cars. Any 3.1 from 89-94 should work i believe. Some cavaliers did have those motors.
