97 Tahoe 2 Door

Still sweating it out in the garage. Upper manifold was a tight fit, needed some extra lube. Valve lash is set, now onto the covers, plugs, accessories and maze of sensors.

Yay team. Hurry up so we can get a FI tech review on the super big gulp

It's all back together but it's running like shit (rough miss) and throwing a PO135 light. Im thinking I have the distributor off a tooth.

It's sensing a camshaft to crank shaft correlation issue. I knew I should have pulled the cap and marked the rotor orientation.

The google has told me that the distributor has an "8" or a "6" on the distributor housing, I should have pointed the rotor at the 8 since this is a V8. I'm pretty sure I'm waaaaaay off that mark, I pointed the rotor at #1 :screwy:

found this picture on the interwebs to show you all

so tonight I'll put it at TDC, pop off the distributor cap and see where I had it set.

I can smell the rubber already :burnout:

oh and it's a 102 outside right now, should be 104sh by the time I'm out there :flipoff7:

Runs so much better now :burnout::saweet:

I hear a little noise on the passenger side head. Think I need to go through and double check the rockers adjustments once more. Other than that, it's running pretty damn good

Glad you got this. Hopefully the tick is something minor

Sounds like loose rocker. I should be able to fire it up with that cover off and know pretty quick.

Finally had a chance to pull the valve covers and adjust the rockers with the engine running. Also picked up a set of new AC Delco wires, runs good and no check engine lights. Need to pickup a magnaflow muffler, the OE muffler has a hole in it and sounds like crap.

Thanks.

I've been daily driving it for the last few weeks and I keep getting the P1345 when I start the engine. I can clear the code while driving and it will usually stay off until I restart the engine again. After reading about the issues surrounding this particular code I've decided it could just be a worn out distributor so I bought a new distributor from rockauto which I received yesterday. Hopefully that clears it up.
