Cool man, thanks. :waytogo:

It looks like there is a "bump out" at every mounting bolt that actually holds the dash pad away from the dash. From the pics, it looks like I could do my my mounting through the dash everywhere except directly where the actual dash pad bolts are.

Oh, by the way, what do you think of this crazy set up. I took those back bars out last night to see what it would look like. I'm sure that I took some strength away, but I wasn't even going to put bars in there in the first place.

It feels so much more open with just those front bars in, it's crazy. This way I win with the bimini top, wiring and still have an open feeling.

I like it! of course, I'm a "less is best" kinda guy. part of the reason I like these trucks so much is because they're open. I don't want to close them in again if I can help it.

That's where I'm at now. When I had those two other bars in over the front seats, it looked complicated. If I stayed with those, I would have needed to add more bars to the back and so on, and so on, to get it to look and feel symmetrical and even. Eventually, it would have been easier to build it out of 1/4" 4x8 sheets and cut holes in it for the windows.:eek1:

I'm done and moving on. :D

I like it. When I do mine I plan to keep it as simple as possible. My truck won't be put in situations where multiple rollovers could happen. It'll be more of a what if I flop it on the road and want people to be safe. Then I'll probably make it a wheeler and add more...

Looks great man, I also plan on a very simple cage.

My truck will never be capable enough for me to tackle trails that would put me into something super crazy.

I have always been a fan of "Big Blzn" 's cage.

Nice cage. I was thinking of building a cage for my 72 like the Poison Spyder cages for there Jeeps . Kind of like there look . Nice job. Il look back to check on progress!

Got a little garage time this weekend. Didn't want to really screw with the cage until my tabs and stuff come in from Kert, so I started some work on the sliders.

I wanted to keep them up as high as I could to the bottom of the rocker but the pinch weld held me down some. I ended up grafting in a piece of 1.75 to the 2x6 where the pinch comes down. As I looked at it, it kinda reminded me of a gutter. Being the contractor type, what's a gutter without a downspout??

Still haven't mounted it all up yet, but I have the drilled plates in the frame and the 2x2 cut to mount between the 2x6 and plates. With the 1" BL, I ended up with about 2 1/2" from the bottom of the rocker box to the bottom of the frame. Plan is to do a gusset system where it mounts to the frame plates. Should be plenty strong..

On with the pics..(cuz everyone knows SBD loves the pics)

great work man! good call on the drain for the gutter. just know that would fill with water otherwise.

Thanks Guys, I think that they should come out pretty nice too.

Hopefully I can get some garage time this week to get it a little closer.

Then make another one..:wink1:

Using your cage as a template for mine, nice work!

How about those "dome" lights you have in your various mock ups.... did you ever end up getting them?

I'm with ya Dave, my truck will never be super hardcore enough to do a lot of the crazy stuff, specially with the stock length springs and all.

Big Blzn's had/has a nice cage. What happened to him?

Are you talking about the front of the Poison spyder cage where it's three bars overhead? Two coming off the the upper corners of the A's and one dead center?

If yes, Ive thought of that. The thing is, all three bars would intersect dead center of your B spreader. Almost a node, or half of one. I'd need to put another bar behind that running to the center of the back "X" brace. Then that would look funny, and I'd need to run two from either side of the "X' to the "B to C" spreader and then it would be a jungle jim again.

I'm leaning with the rest of the guys, in the "less is more", type of cage now. The only thing that I'm really debating on is the "B" x, also used the front seat belt harness. I still don't think that I'm going to put them in, "unless", I could maybe use 6 of those tube connectors and be able to take out the entire x brace when were just at the mall. :D

I think I NEED a bender:waytogo::bow:

I thought that you were....................................."DONE"..:pimp:

Sweet man, glad that I could help someone on this site. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them, if I can.

The lights are still up in the air, along with the entire overhead CB and panel. Don't know if I like the idea of having a full convertible, just to put stuff up there. :dunno:

The only light that I know will still be up, is at the back of the cage (rear template). I've changed my mind and want to just have one up there, but it will serve two purposes. I can use it as a cab light (it will look like a NorCal grow room in there) and be able to pull a pin, or something, and have it swivel under the back bar to were it would point to the rear area were you would be setting up tent or cooking back there. Still haven't found a skinny enough light or just how I'm going to fab the mount.

Here is the light type I had in mind for the back.

Are those lights the rediculously bright yet rediculously expencive ones??? If so :bow::bow::bow: Bada$$$
