I'm 3 liters in and can only say it takes less to get me crying... Maybe wasn't the best plan I guess.

Sorry Brother...

Just couldn't escape today.. tree on house, roof temps...Blah Blah..

Here's too you, Jake....:(

No need for apologies man, I'm used to being in a different time zone by now.

And Dean, I have no idea why dogs seem to be the most direct way to a guy's heart... Luckily most of the time that's a good thing :thumb:

" They find places in our hearts we didn’t know existed. A lot of us guys play our cards pretty close to the chest. "

I stole this quote but think it sums it up.

Some front end progress the last couple of days.

I had a lot of the bars on Thursday before the feast. I really liked the way everything was coming together. Then later I looked at these pics and really didn't like what I was seeing. I ended up sending some of the pics to Greg to see what he could see yesterday. I just didn't want to keep bending the tube that I had planed on top of the shock bar with the gussets and such till I had someone take a look at it.

Thanks for the help Greg...

Sometimes when you get in the tube bending mode, at least me, it helps to get another set of eyes on the project. He came up with the tube that came off the plate area was pushing everything out some. I don't know if the tire would have ever hit that tube that comes off the plate, but I took it apart today and notched up some strait stuff. This will come off the the upper corner of the frame on top of the plate area. Didn't get a lot of work done today, due to a million phone calls from the guys heading back to NY in the morning. I just couldn't keep my head in the game, so I called it.

Here are some of the pics of what the first trial looked like. I can always go back to this, but hopefully by tomorrow night, I'll have version 2 up, and we can compare them..

Glad you had Greg look at that. Here is a picture of where my tire hit last time out. Both spots where my fingers point took rubber abuse. Don't know if it was just wheelin or when we hit and broke the trans. Either way I was surprised to see it rubbed so far in (Don't forget I have 1 3/4" spacers as well)

Wow Chris, that is a great pic. Thanks..

You're even a good 4" or so towards the center of the axle than me and it still hit.

Yep, glad that I'm re-working it. I should have it knocked out tomorrow, without a problem.

Thanks again..

Had a chance to change a couple of things around yesterday. I started by adding a little to the frame plate where the old existing shock was. This gave me a place to land the down tube that is closest to the firewall on each side.

I notched the down tube to land directly on the corner of the frame and on both plates. I'll need to drill a couple of holes on the top side of the frame for the additional piece that was added.

The plan is too add two tubes above the shock mount. One going up at an angle towards the FW and the other up at an angle towards the core. Then I can install some gussets between the angled tubes and the shock bar. I don't want to leave the shock hanger unsupported, the way that it is.

Notched on top of the frame.

Pass side so far..

Really glad that I ended up re-working it. This should give me a lot more clearance. :thumb:

Want the solution to keep your tires from hitting?

LINK IT :D:D:D:D

LOL leaves have some wacky and unpredictable movements, especially when you overstress them when say you hit something hard enough to break other parts ( transmissions and stuff ya know).

One of the reasons I preach bumpstops as an integral part of the suspension.

You can set them to prevent much of the problems, but you are still left with the wanky movement of leaf springs.

engine cage's are the bomb!
Mike it looks good, dig the shock mounting, and have you looked at timbrens, or going air or what for the bumps?

You know the more I think about it, it would be easy. It would only take a couple of things.

4--RH 1.25" Heims, jams and tube adapters
4--LH 1.25" Heims, jams and tube adapters
16--Stainless Steel misalignment spacers
2--30 degree upper frame link brackets (Adjustable Link brackets have 5/8" holes and drilling those holes are not included in drilling price)
2--Lower frame link brackets
2--0 degree lower axle link brackets
4--Upper axle tabs or 1 bracket
1--Option of axle truss for mounting links
2--pillows
2--sleeping bags
2--plane tickets (one for you, one for Heath) :D
1-30 pack (For proper supervision) :waytogo:
1-Grill
3-Big steaks

Did I miss anything... :wink1:

Probably go with the timbrens. I figure, If you guys didn't break anything when you did this, I should be good to go. After all, I'll just be driving mine to the local 7-11 for some beer. :thumb:

Looks killer Mike, as always! Nice winch you got there too. :waytogo:

Thanks Brother... Hopefully I can start to do a mock up with it this weekend. :waytogo:

Well, you didn't miss anything, if you are only linking the back... :D

....I'm guessing more steak. Three ain't going to get it done.

Lol, you're probably right, Greg. I'm sure if we were all the size of Heath, we would be good.

But similar to what Big Pappa was quoted earlier in this thread somewhere saying.....

Eric and I lost our Boyish figures some time ago....:doah: :haha:

Better call the butcher and have him save me half a cow. :pimp:
