After seeing everyone's rig painted in Ryoken green it`s hard to imagine them in a different colour. :haha:

The gages and dash pad look good in there, cant wait to see the seats you picked out.

Young Mike got the 65 running yet!???

95% of the time I don't even think of my project as an actual vehicle....

It has become an abstraction of some kind, a kinetic sculpture and financial black-hole from which there is no escape. :D

Being able to make that shift in mindset so that you can think of it as a drive-able and functional truck would certainly make the process more exciting and fun!!!

:waytogo:

After knocking on just about four years myself, I'm not sure what statement was more true...the sculpture part or the black-hole part..:doah:

Both are so true to some degree..:dunno:

At least I have the engine that can be started on a whim. In fact I turned her over yesterday after I sat the seats in the interior. :saweet:

This "New" area called the interior is really exciting and I think is really going to push this thing into overdrive. I was looking at my long list and I think that I can knock out a lot of it over the next six months. With a plane ticket sent to Eric, we can really do a lot of damage to the underside of this thing and scratch a line through a lot more.

Don't know if it's possible, but I sure would like to have it done by next years BB. I'll probably be so broke that I can't go, but it will be done.

The green is cool, but I am sooooo ready to get some of my color on this pig.

We got Michael's 65 home last week. She is sitting in the driveway finally and we both have been going over plans for it. Saturday we hit a huge junkyard up about 45 minutes from me. They ended up being closed but I seen two guys working in there behind the closed gates. I showed my son the power of the dollar that day. :pimp: I knew that they had a pristine 69-72 hood in there that I wanted. Wiggled my way in and talked to the guys unloading the scrap. Threw my offer out there. After they called the boss we were loading up the hood and we had free access to the yard for a good hour. We seen at least 8, 62-65 rigs and somewhere in the range of 15-20, 67-72's.

Enough words.... Lets get to some motivational pics..

I got my Seats....:woot: :woot:

Ordered these from Kert and they came out pretty nice. I went with the 2" wider PRP recliner's with the full high/low heat in full Cordura. I was going to get the piping in a tan to go with the interior, but after talking with Kert he talked me out of it and went with the double stitch corners. I was pretty nervous that the tan wouldn't match anyways.

I'm happy that I went with the full Cordura, instead of some vinyl on the back or something. I was primarily worried about the back of the rear seat getting all tore up loading crap in the back on hunting trips and it getting all ripped up. Don't think that will happen with this stuff.

I do hope that the material will tighten up a little over time. I'm guessing one wash and a little sun will get the material all tight on the seats. :dunno:

and just in case I want to be a gangster.... :waytogo:

Mike,

I think the material will tighten up. I see a few puckers there that might not go away.

The cordura will certainly be durable for you. No question there.

Let me know how you like the adjustable heat.

Mike I showed your pics to a guy who did upholstery for a year or so. He says it looks like they didn't steam the seats before they sent em to you.

You might try steaming them.

Interested to hear if PRP tells you the same thing I did if they are just gonna ignore you now you have your t shirt................ and seats

oh my those are super nice. Worth the wait?

I really like them, Eric. Big and comfy...

As far as the wait, I didn't have much of a choice..:doah:

I hope they do and I really appreciate all of the effort that went into getting me these.

As I told ya last night, I'm going to run them. I don't think that either of us have enough time to fight with PRP.

Very nice heated too... what a puss! :haha
Jk Awesome!

I knew that I'd get some chit from someone... Just didn't think that it would come from a syrup drinkin' Canuck. :haha:

Heated seat? Does it really get that cold? I'd take AC cooled seats if they made such a thing.

The rig will be used on a lot of snow runs. The guys snow camping trip is 4 days in the snow. Granted it's not below zero, but it will be nice on those runs.

oh, and the wife wanted them. :D

I wonder how one would steam a seat at home. :dunno: Big bag and a tea kettle??

I talked to PRP yesterday and it was a waste of time. They told me to put them in the sun and rub on them.... I just don't drink enough booze to make love to my seats that way. :eek1: :pimp:

I do have the damn t-shirt though......and a text from Kert agreeing to do the final welds on my rig... :waytogo: :D

Eric... You cost me 300 today on the sliders. Should have them before this weekend. At least one of them. Backorder on the other black one for the pass side.

My car has AC cooled seats. I've never gotten under the seats to see how it's done but it is being done. :thumb:

Mike, awesome progress dude! Amazing how much of a difference the dash makes huh?! Glad you finally got your seats too. You're really cooking on this thing now:bow:

Year, make and model? Interchange info for pick-n-pull? :)
it's a '13 ford SHO so I'm thinking it might be awhile before there are many in the yards but I think there are a few caddys that have it too.

Now that being said, that Gangster lean back how's that gona work with your harness hoops right behind the seat?

To be honest, I'm not sure yet... :doah:

I have a couple of ideas for the back that I just haven't moved on yet.

One idea is to use some disco's on a full "X", with the addition of a harness bar. That would be 6 disco's on that plan. The thing is, I really don't want much of a bar back there for 90% of the time. When I go to BB of something else where the possibilities of really doing something stupid is there, sure, I'd like the bar. But for general driving around, it sure would be a pain in the ass for the back seat folks.

The other is just using some of the Corbeau retractable 2" harness system. I'm kinda leaning towards this option right now.

On to bigger and better things. How about a little seat mounting. :D

Spent the better part of this weekend with 2x4's, bricks, 6x6's and just about everything else that I could find in the garage to prop up the seats so I could find the right height for them. This seriously took along time. Finally after I had everyone and their brother sitting in the seats, I came up with a height.

With this height, I ran into problems right away. The seat sliders that I bought raise the seat by 1.75". That meant that the seat would have to sit as low as possible, to give ample head room for the cage.

Ended up using 1.5 for my seat bars and even coped the tabs around the bars to bring it down some more.

Anyways, here is what I came up with.

Add some bricks....

From here is got a little tricky. I really wanted to make some kind of super console like Ryoken's. I made the main center section to build off of first with some 1.75 legs heading towards the dash. Of coarse they wouldn't work with the doubler shifter in the way, so I bent them up to give me some ideas on what I was going to build next and how it would look.

Then the pain in the butt rear legs were made.

I was going to run four bars, two one each side under the seats to mount them to. These were going to run from the front of the truck to the back type of thing. With how low the seat bars needed to be, there just wasn't enough room for those so I landed the seats on top of what I had.

My bud who helps me a lot on the weekends jumped in to see how much head room we had and where the line of site would be. Turned out pretty nice for a 6' 2" guy.

Then my wife jumped in to try out the sliders. They worked perfect. At the angle I set the seats up at. The more you go forward, the more you go up.

Now it was time for me. One thing that I figured out quick was that the super console would't work out. Even if I spent the cash on the cable shifters and squeezed the bars together towards the dash, there just isn't enough room for my legs. It drove me nuts just sitting there with it rubbing. I couldn't imagine it for a four day trip.

and my veiw. It worked out nice where I'm direct in the middle of the WS.

I still need to get the pass side slider, but all came out pretty good

Seat to door room.

and one for Greg. :pimp:

All in all, I learned that the sliders, although nice, are a pain with the 1.75" they take up. I will need to use disco's on the seat portion as the bars sit too low for the cage to slide out now.

My 1st gen, won't be getting a center console either. Now I need to figure out if I'm going to run the Art Carr shifter or use the existing?? I really don't think that there is enough room for the existing with the headers and tube down there, so I might have built myself in to a spot.. :dunno:

Looking good brother!!! You're making some great progress lately! Feels good to sit in the drivers seat again huh?

I didn't want to come down. Kept on asking for beers while I was up there. :haha:

While I sat there, I might have also ditched the idea of the CB in the cage and the light switch panel overhead.

I thought...... it's a convertible and you're going to cover the sky with crap to look at.

A change in the build platform it looks like. It should change the time line ahead though. :woot:

Good call. Keeping as much out of the view near and above your head is the way to go imo. One of the biggest perks of owning a 1st gen blazer is having a full size convertible. It baffles me when people put a bunch of crap up there, or even an over the top amount of tube for their cage.
