Some no phone, progress....

Last Friday I was mixing up some mortar to set some steps. Next thing ya know, my phone went into the cleaning bucket filled with water. Now I've been tied to that thing like no tomorrow, as I'm sure some of you can relate.

I could have went in the last three days for a new one, but I had a better plan. Don't grab the new phone and take Monday and Tuesday off too. The plan has been to work on the rig strait through, a lot of it would be just finishing out so many small things. A bolt that never went in correctly, a fabbed part that just needed some more love.

Not a lot of pics, due to no phone and the iPad kinda sucks for those duties. But, I gotta few.

Last Friday I went up and talked to Jess. Job site was about two miles from HAD. We were bs'ing about the ebrake. The first thing he said was, " you're not using a lokar, are ya?".......

I'm sure my face went pale, as I started thinking how much work went into that handle to make it work. After a big gulp of pride and a "Yep, sure am", he explained how it was only a 1:1 and I should be looking for a 2:1. He ran through the math real quick using my 4:10's and basically said I should be able to get about 8k worth of holding power with another handle.... Well low and behold, he had one sitting on a shelve. It's a military one just like I have on the camp trailer. Not only did he give me that, he also gave me a cable that had been sitting on the shelve for years.

After totally reframing the underside of the console. Here we have it. It sits a little higher, as the cable comes out the bottom, but not too bad. The plan was always to use some cordura for around the shifter and on top of the lid, so I don't think it will be too noticeable. Besides, this thing is badass. So much more heavy duty than the Lokar one. I have almost a 1/2" or more of play just by twisting the knob.

And onto the cable....Made a mount off the back of the 205.

And a little HAD bling.....been waiting for this day. Lol

I also hooked up the shifter linkage. That took awhile... No matter how I adjusted the cable ends or the detent area, I could get park, but no 1st, or 1st with no park. I ended up threading the cable back another 3/4", cutting off 1/2" with the grinder, and boom. It all works.

That's all I have for now. Heading back out in a bit to remove all the cables to get the console back on the bench for final welding and double shear seat belt tabs. Should e fun....

I know things are different in Nor Cal, but your new seat looks might uncomfortable to me! :eek1:

:haha:

As my girlfriend likes to say, mentally I never really left 5th grade. :P

Nice job Mike. :waytogo:

......guess I know why I couldn't get any sort of reaction out of you from my recent text messages.

Yeah, sorry about that. Figured I was missing some behind the curtain type stuff. At it today, but will prolly pick it up tomorrow. In the time being, I'm really enjoying this no phone thing. :thumb:

I didn't realize you already had the exhaust done, I been gone too long. You will drive that thing soon now? Looking good.

That's some decent progress. Good to see the driveshafts came in.

Well ya know. Cocaines a helluva drug.

I had to give it up. Was starting to get too skinny. Besides, I like that our combined weight is like 4 Adams put together. :pimp: :haha:

Yep, had the exhaust installed when I had the cast on. Figured I was still moving forward.

Hopefully she will be doing some test laps pretty soon.

The way it sits for a couple of runs would be.

Gas tank install
Brake and fuel lines
Hydro stuff
A million bolts to tighten.
Weld the cage.
Minimal wiring to run her
Figure out how to mount a gas pedal. The 69's mounted to the floor with a small round head bolt. Well that bolt is broken off into the floor. Even if I could get it out, I really don't know where to get a new one.
Steering linkage.
Finish the winch, free spool lever thing. This part kinda locks in the front.
Lug nuts
Correct drag and tie rod. Sent an email to Chris at ORD tonight about that.

I'm sure there is more, but those are the big ones to at least get her doing some test laps around the block.

Pretty cool stuff. Did ya get your ebrake?

A little Sunday progress.

Mainly working on the center console and the seat belts. Finally by the end of the day, the console was pretty much finished and I moved onto the back seat.

Some pics from yesterday.

Finished welding up the top portion.

Added some locks. These don't work so good as of yet. I prolly need to figure out something else. Or a better catch.

Finished welding up the bottom framing for the E-brake

Moved onto seat belt tabs. I actually started a thread about going single or double tab. Single won over.

And back in the rig

And how they look

The three point

Will prolly mount in this area.

The look. :D

The locks do look cool in there tho.

And, that is all. I did clean up the garage too. Ashman might stop over on his way to the Redwoods tonight. I gave him an option, a mowed lawn, or work done on the rig.

I picked for him. :D

Any reason not to mount extending belt to the top of the cage? I mean there is a buckle. I know normally they would go on a cross bar but your cage is an open design(Which I like).

From reading the instructions, IIRC they wanted something like a 5 degree down on that end. This should really work out perfect. If needed, I can release that back strap fairly easy to let passengers in.

I sat back there......with a beer :waytogo: when I was done. You really don't even notice them.

And I'm with ya on the open cage. It's something that I've been fighting for a long time.

Well as long as you can enjoy a tasty beverage in the back with no interference I say you are good. :thumb:
