Ok I did a swap from a TBI to a carb set up w/ a 700r4/208.

Things that stopped working: Cruise control, converter lock-up, the shift points went out the window. When I floor it in drive or OD, it will shift out of 1st at like 1500-2000 and the same from 2 - 3 and 3-4. I've adjusted the RV cable and no luck. now when it shifts, it feels like its slipping bad!! but when I manually shift it out from 1-2 it hits like a dam freight train, but still from 2-3, 3-4 it feels like its slipping.

I would like the lock-up and CC to work if possible. Do I need to put the TB back on it and hook up all of the wiring again or is there a work around for all of this? Thanks alot.

also, when I did the swap, I used the existing fuel system and ran a regulator and now when I get on it, the carb runs out of gas. The system is running at 7 PSI so I'm not getting it!! Kinda pissin me off really. Ideas???

You can also completely rewire the truck with a harness from an '85/86 that had a 700R4. That is about the best way to go if you really want to go backwards to a carb. I don't see any reason to put on a carb though? If you want more performance there are a lot of options for the TBI.

Only external "setting" on the 700 is the TV cable. I don't know as GM changed the "throw" on the TBI/carb setups, perhaps a different cable would be in order.

The TCC is controlled via vacuum on earlier trucks, you can convert to that, but the wiring at the trans is going to need work to hook up to.

Either put TBI back on, or swapping the harness are your best bets IMO.

Diffenent cable or maybe just the bracket that holds the TV. I know GM had diffenent cables on TPI...never paid much attetion to carb or TBI.

Try finding a bracket from a vehicle that had a 700R4 and a carb. Or an aftermarket one. I've never had good luck with the "universal" kickdown cable brackets that Advance/Autozone sell. They never seem to fit anything.
