I'm nearing completion on my rear axle swap and I have a REAL dumb question about pinion angle. I know what the proper geometry is for a non-CV driveshaft, my question is...is that so it doesn't drive you crazy with poor manners...or do it doesn't eat pinion seals and rip itself apart? This will be a 100% trail truck and trailer queen so it will only see over 40 mph very very rarely. It already has 39.5" boggers so it's gonna suck on road no matter what. I can handle vibration since it's a stripped trail rig, but I don't want to be leaking gear oil all over because my truck eats pinion seals for lunch.

You match angles so it doesn't vibrate which can lead to premature seal/ujoint/spline failures. The speed to worry about is not truck speed but driveshaft speed and that depends on differential gear ratio.
