I've got an '88 k5 with no a/c. I'm looking to upgrade it to something maybe a little more modern. Being in Texas, I get my fair share of some heat. I'm really just looking for a new system to pop in there and run instead of the old one. If any one knows where I can find one that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If your truck is factory a/c truck you way better off with restoring that system. The aftermarket complete systems haven't been up the defrost task in wetter areas. Though they may have improved. You have Classic Auto air, Vintage air, and newer company Restomodair, to choose from @ktmoutfront recenty put a restomodair in a P chassis he plays with. From what I gather it worked well on The Power tour this last June.

Agree. I had a factory A/C truck where the compressor and hoses had been removed, and the blend doors didn't work properly. I went ahead and replaced the vacuum lines, and got new parts (Evaporator, orifice tube, compressor, hoses, and a new parallel condenser to work with modern refrigerants. Even still, I was probably out less than $500 in parts, and installation was simple since everything's factory. I already had the vacuum pump and gauges so getting it set up went smoothly. It's ice cold, works like it should, and no worry of fabrication or fitment issues. If it's a non-AC truck then an aftermarket system might make more sense. The new ones seem to keep getting better, and they're definitely less bulky and probably more efficient than the factory setup.

I installed a vintage air in my 79 C10..I live in PHX AZ so I know hot..hands down best money I ever spent I can't say enough ..night & day difference over factory unit
