Air Bump stops-Finished

Got the drivers side welded up. Way close clearance to the steering arm, should be ok thou. Set them to max compression at 5 inches past ride height. Was worried about not having a cross bar type thing tying them together like the rears but then while drilling for the plates it donned on me the engine cross member is right there and that part of the frame will be way strong.

Hows the steering work? do you get bump steer? Really shocked you don't have cross over yet.

Bumps look great I bet they will take a pounding. Curious about your report after the test run to see how well you like it.

What are your total travel #s?
From ride height, front up travel is 5.25" & rear is 6"
From ride height, droop on both is about 6"

Guess I really don't know what bump steer is. Steering seems to be good

Bump steer is something you can get used too. If the truck is upgraded in steps, you build a reaction to it, making the truck drivable. Drive one without, and it gets noticable in a hurry.

It's all about what you're comfortable with.

I would think crossover with no panhard (like what I have) would create more actual bump steer with the sideways drag link. The front to back drag link really shouldn't, but the issues comes down to maxing out the drag link ends with lots of travel as it is so much shorter.

And to be honest, if your not killing drag link ends chris, you prolly don't need crossover. But good lord does it make steering so nice, and all my steering needed replacement anyways...

Does not matter which direction the drag link goes. Front to back or side to side. The longer the drag link, the less the bump steer. Geometry plays a part also.

Run a solid works symulation of both set ups. If the axle is going straight up and down, how much movement is in the pitman arm?

Based on his travel measurements he's probably not exceeding (very much?) the stock steering.. He's got a good angle at ride height and that's where it's spends the most time.. It's prob why it's not that noticeable because lift is mild and tires are comparatively small..
