Alternative one ton axles.

2005 radius arm ford 60 with coilovers and ruffstuff radius arm kit. Diy in a weekend. VERY simple swap for what it is. Then the matching Sterling 10.5. V10 trucks get 4.30 gears and most get posi. 11 and newer offer elockers.

They are 72 inches wide and huge brakes.

That has potential for sure. I had not planned on coil spring front but I do like that setup. Hmmm....thoughts are bad.

See now that has some potential. Cheap, strong and big brakes. I like it. I know there are some of these out in the local yard but I just walked on by. Quick parts search online says that the front axle can be had for 350 bucks. I'll bet the rear is the same or cheaper. Now someone needs to buy my M100 jeep trailer so I can afford to go get this stuff! It's just freaky enough to be cool.

Dunno if there out your way, but don't forgot to look under 4wd vans. I think Pathfinder was out your way, them and Quigley did many conversions. I got one from an 86 van that was a high pinion, but had perches welded on to 36", but axle was identical to a 78/79 style. Many others will have link mounts or perches welded on the tubes, leaving room for correct width, or to put it on the center like factory. Or get the newer axle and go coils.

Second gen dodge dana 80 single wheel is 69" wide and 8x6.5 with 9/16 studs. 01 and 02 get disc brakes. Very good axle to pair with a gm 60. Kinda hard to find for a good price. The dana 70s are 32 spline and not worth any effort imo.

Square body Chevrolet dana 70hd is 74" and is kinda hard to use unless you want to run h1 wheels.

For the cost the 14ff is going to be the cheapest axle available. Even disk swapped it's dirt cheap. Only downside is a parking brake.

The front axle is always going to be the problem.

at this point for the price I think pull out axles from boyce are the most cost effective. You can have them rebuild them and save yourself the hassle..

Boyce is super nice. It's a huge chunk of money on one spend though. I do see people's reluctance to buy through them, but at the same time building your own 60 isnt cheap.

I actually prefer to build them myself. That Way I know exactly what I have. I'm going to do some measuring and investigating on the 05 f-350 front. I'll go and measure spring perches, links and whatnot. If it will all work out, I'm thinking it sounds fun.

Have you seen this done? Is there a link to anyone online? I was searching to no avail.

I was most interested in the width of the spring buckets on the axle. Then I read again, you said coil overs...not coils so that might make it easier.

Coil springs sit so frickin wide on these axles. It is inches from the ball joint.

I'm going to head this direction I think. Monday I will head to the salvage yards and see what I can find.
