Seems to me that there was either a dealer, or someone who worked on them here one time...........

Went by my mechanic friend's shop, and he is having problems with one of his lifts.
Seal went bad in one of the cylinders, and the place he got it charged $800 to put in a seal kit last time.
Plus, it might be a few days before he can get to it......

We have a local hydraulic shop, who usually does pretty good work. But he is old school, and I doubt that he has much computer savvy.
My friend took the cylinder over to him, but he says none of the numbers match any cross reference he has, and none of his seals are right.

I'm about to start powersurfing the web to see if I can come up with anything, but I wanted to post here in case a member could make a sale, or knew where to find a kit.

Its a Rotary Lift.
Model SPOA9-200
9,000 lb rating.

Got the serial number too if needed.

He has a couple other lifts, but can't afford to be without this one for long.

Thanks

call rotory and get seal kit direct if you can and have local guy install it if you dont think you can do it.

otherwise like you tryed i would use a local guy before dealer as the prices are crazy .

Well, the whole issue may be moot.

It seems that that model lift used two different cylinders.
I found a kit that all parts needed for both for $172.
Complete aftermarket cylinder for $668.

I called to let him know, and he said that he thought the local guy was modifying the one he had to let standard seals work........

Wonderful.....

There is a lot of pulpwood work around here, and most of the skidders, loaders, other type of equipment, are running on a shoestring.
So, its not uncommon to find lots of mods done to cylinders to make them work.

I have seen straps welded across screw-in end caps when the threads stripped.
So, there is no telling what this guy is doing.

I think he is going to weld up the seal groove in the piston and re-machine it to standard size, but I'm not sure.

I am way behind the curve on this one. Its been going on for a couple of days now. If he had called me when he realized he was in trouble, I would have had him the seals now.

He said he was going to check and see if the guy had already done anything. If not, then I will order him the seal kit unless someone here chimes in.

Otherwise, he may be looking at a new cylinder.
Still cheaper than getting the rep to repair that one though.....

He said that the rep would not sell him just the kit.
Again, had he checked with me, I would have gotten him the numbers for the main outfit, and probably could have supplied him with someone who could order from them if they wanted him to go through a dealer.

We will see.

In the meanwhile, if anyone has any suggestions or sells parts, jump in. If nothing else, the other side will wear out sooner or later......
