Any guesses on HP?

V6 xterra also isnt relying on a carburetor and 4 wires to get it going either. not to mention the computer system involved in the xterra.

I need more power time to get to work I guess

Its still dissappointing though I hate those things and others but...

Sooo.....

Can I get my 4 wires and carb to push at least 300 ponies:D , still be legal:laugh: and crush the highly advanced xterra:angry1:

Uhh, why don't you look at the torque ratings of the xterra. Truck motors make reliable power down low, that's it. I doubt the xterra makes 300 ft lbs as low as the truck V8 does. (if it even gets that high) Don't get so worked up on horsepower numbers.

The reason you remember high HP numbers for cars like Camaro's and what not is because they changed from SAE to net HP numbers in the early 70's. No idea what a 350 in a truck in say 1970 was rated at HP wise.

Nissan says 281 in the "X", at 4000RPM. Rear wheel for an "S" that I found a dyno chart for shows 252 ft lbs @ 4000.

'88 350 in a K5 was rated by GM as 300lb-ft @ 2800RPM.

You are probably *roughly* somewhere in that vicinity. Can't read many of the specs on anything older on the brochure page.

I believe the 70 3504V was rated at 250 horses, gross, not net.
FWIW, my 70 429 with 10.5 compa ratio was rated at 360 horses from the factory, and dyno tests show 320 installed on identical engines.
The factories also lowered compa ratios, pretty much the same time the changed over to net ratings, so it was a double whammy to the HP numbers.

just run it. If its not enough, put a 100 shot on it for the sand or whatever you need 300 horsepower for. you gota remember, full size trucks are heavy and they need more power to get them going. 300 horsepower truck isnt really that fast period, nothing that will make me that happy so im just happy with the stock motors, and they last longer.

300 hp wont get you anywhere. hell, 800 hp wont get you anywhere. horsepower allows you to maintain motion, its torque that gets you there.
