Let's go over the basics first of all. Is the RF gain turned all the way up ?? Is the Squelch turned down ?? Is it set to CB ?? If all that is fine, is the coax hooked up ?? Is the mic pluged in ??

im positive of everything but the RF....
and like i said, the meter is moving but the speaker sound is faint to nill

The RF gain should be all the wat to the right. It may be a bad audio chip inside the radio. Plug your external speaker into the "PA" jack and switch the radio to "PA" and see if it works.

ok update... speaker is very vaint... but it turns out it works... i handed it off to a cobra guru. we'll see what comes of it

and the solution was: a chip.

friend of a friend had one laying around... dropped it in. i was assured it works fine
will install tomorrow
