im lookin around for a set to throw on when i go out to the mud hole for weekends at a time. i've tracked down a set locally that measure just over 40inches tall and the guy wants 400 for em'. he said he's not sure on the rim size, but they're basically brand new.

anyways, do ya'll think my 60/14FF will hold up to those heavy tires, im sure they're considerably heavier than my tsl's. the shafts/joints are stock...for now. haha. remember, im only in mud. what do you guys think?

I run a tractor for a living & you'd be correct to assume they're heavy! Do they come with rims? Tractor rims are super heavy too but can be adapted with a plate(wich is also heavy). IMHO, pro's- would last FOREVER, super tough, would last FOREVER. Con's- Heavy & while I'm not totally sure on this, they're designed for a 20,000+ lb tractor & might rely on the weight of the machine to get traction, but like I said I could be wrong on that. The guys on the Alaska 4x4 website use them alot.

400 bucks sounds cheap for those tires, btw. We sell our tires for alot more than that!

Well at an orv park I often go to, there is always this guy there with a monte carlo on k5 frame and tractor tires! Around the same size too I believe. Not sure on his axles, but their certainly nothing special looking. He runs that thing hard and it's always held up from what i've seen...

if you do get them, make sure to post some pictures!!:D

Hell when we go to Alto (Shiloh Ridge) half the guys there are running tractor tires and they do good...but then again they all have rockwells for the most part. But some of their tires are 60+ inches tall.

the guy I bought my axles and tires from had a couple vehicles kicking around that had like 54" tractor tires... couple rigs with rocks, and a furd on 3/4 ton stuff... :eek1::doah::haha:

with rims, pushing 1000lbs a piece I'd guess.. heavy sums o' b*tches....

theres lots of different tractor tires, which type are you talking about? agricultural or like a loader or something? if its a nylon ag tire its probably pretty light but the wheel that kills ya. thems heavy sumbucks.

more agricultural... I'll see if I can dig up a photo of something similar...

theres a couple rigs in that area running em..

I think you would be better off with tires from a log skidder or ditch witch. They're around 40 or 44 inches but they use a much smaller wheel, I think 16.5"

yeah, these are agricultural tires for sure....he said vtreads or something like that...not exactly sure till i see them next week. im regearing as low as i can go, so i don't think spinning them will be a problem at all. :)

not sure what the rims look like, but i've seen people basically "spoke the rims" by taking out some metal in pattern around the rim?

Heres that Monte Carlo I was talking about: His rims don't look too heavy, but not sure if they make bigger ones or if he made them like that himself...

Also, that s10 in the background was running huge tractor tires and rims, but with what looked like axles from the 6x6 military troop trucks...
