The boat engines are governed to the same top speed as truck engines. The vid probably started with the motor turning 3 grand and he wound it up to 3600 or so. It just sounds fast because you aren't used to hearing a diesel wound up.

I bet the fuel consumption is horrific :eek1:

I bet it's better than a 7.4 litre Merc...

The beginning of the vid reminded me of my trip to Moab in my Jimmy. Pretty much as loud except you need to add swamper drone. :D

I am running glass packs and straight pipes on mine and it sounds sweet runnning down the freeway. I just changed the intake to a non EGR one and craked the IP a quarter turn and then bumped the timing a notch. She really runs respectable now I can feel more torque. Cant wait for big bear to get her in the dirt. Goto go play.

Oh and they sound different (really nice) when completely unrestricted. I cut the air cleaner up today and gained some top end on her. If you can deal with the DB I recomend opening that 6.2 up. I just keep falling in love with these more and more.

Yah decibels. They get kinda loud with an open intake and the exhaust but man what a difference.

The boat vid and the engine vid are from the same guy on Youtube, VillyM. Try messaging him there. He's in Croatia according to one of his posts on the 6.2L video page.

I need to do something to get more air into mine. Still breathing hot air from the engine bay through that one little opening in the air filter housing.

then manifold I got off ebay for 11.50 (sweet steal) it cost more to ship the thing. When I went to install, while it was off, it I popped open the side cover and tightened the fuel trim screw 1/4 turn. I am worried a little about getting pulled over for the noise. I didnt think gutting the air cleaner would make it that much louder but it did.

I gutted mine and turned it into an open element filter right before going to Moab in 2003. The very first thing I did when I got back was chuck it in the trash and install a factory fliter housing again. Brutally loud!!!

That is funny. I drove to work today and was goiing to come home tonight and log in and say the same thing. It is monster ticket loud without a complete air cleaner on there. Off to the junkyard this weekend for a new one so I can at least drive it to work.

Hopefully when I get mine done the turbo will muffle the intake. Otherwise I will have to figure out some sort of intake silencer :doah:

I just can't imagine mine being any louder than it already is with the restrictive stock intake.

I read somewhere that some of the 70's car air cleaner intakes will fit it. Anyone know if this is true?
