What causes this? in all the motors dads been through hes never seen any happen like this, and trust me, hes had his share. All stock and original (and ran well i might add) 75 k5 with a 350. Ideas? Its getting new cam bearings and a cam at minimum. (Bearings for a small journal 327 and 350 should be the same right?)

Kinda looks like electrolysis, Not sure how you would get that in a cam bearing.....
I have heard of it in main bearings when the crank becomes the ground point, but the cam is pretty much isolated from outside points.

Its not any kind of wear I am familiar with. It looks acid etched.
How do the mains look?

Its 1am, so I'm not at the top of my form, but is there any other brass/bronze in an engine?
Dizzy bushings maybe...
I am thinking dissimilar metals with some kind of eddy currents running around in there.

Gonna check the mains/rods tommorow. Truck was rolled when the guy went into his driveway and damaged pan, but had a new pan on it as well as it was running fine before dad/brother pulled from the 75 k5, so im not sure what the deal is.
