Is anyone running an 18" or 20" off-road rim? If so what back spacing are your wheels? Do the look good with the hubs sticking through them? Post pics if you have them, I'm wanting to go to a 20" rim and 38" tires on my 85 K5

Doubt you'll find anyone on here with 20s, but who knows. Most are running 15-17".

Rule of thumb is that tire diameter should be at least twice the wheel diameter. Better functionality etc. Also, I'd put 20s on my duramax, but they just don't look right to me on the square bodies. Unless it's a lowered 2WD.

I won't go bigger than 20s, but I had 20s with a 35 on my silverado and they rode fine on and off road, I just want something that will give the truck a little bit of pop and stand out. More of the modern lifted truck but with the older body.

You'll just look like another 22 year old who just got his tax refund check. Because that's the majority of people with old trucks with the big new style wheels. Personally, I think 99% of all the aftermarket wheels look like sh!t. "I got them 20 inch Rockstars, bro!!!!" They're all just skulls and stars and flat black. Boring. Find a machine shop that will make you some 17 or 18 inch steelies. Now THAT would make your rig stand out. White 8" wide 18" steelies with dog dishes? I think I just gave myself a boner.

Just my opinion, but I dig stock rims, or stock looking rims, on a modified vehicle. I'd have steelies with hubcaps on my Suburban if it came with them. Well, that and the weight penalty. Having larger steel rims with hubcaps is one of those subtle touches, that when done right, will make people say "something's different, but I can't tell what it is".

My old '87 Wagoneer had stock aluminum rims with big tires:

And my '69 VW has stock looking chromies, but the rears are wider than the front:

To each their own, but I dig the subtle touches.

Whatever I get will be chrome not flat black, I'm thinking going with a moto metal or hela, or even a procomp.

^ I bought 17" classic locks for mine after the 1 ton conversion. Truck still under construction, but I dig em. They're classy and a beter fit for the truck vs. most of the newer style wheels.

My friend did a brake job on a later Dodge 4x4 the other day,and the owner had put those gawdy 20" rims & tires on it--the tires must have been intended for a tractor trailer, the things weighed like 150 lbs each!..the truck rode like it had dead axles too..why anyone would want those on a street driven truck I dont know--unless that wanted to haul like 15,000 lbs with it all the time...

Please don't.

:haha:^This. Maybe it's just personal opinion, but I think that would look really stupid. I guess if you are going for mall crawler, than whatever, but for any type of offroad, not a very smart move

moto metal = ghey x eleventy

When I see those, I always say hey, check out Socal over there! :haha:

Even though I know lots of you are from there, it seems to be the common term for the early twenties bros with brand new trucks on moto metal wheels, and RBP grills and monsterous exhaust tips.

I guess I'll just have to do it and prove everyone wrong, dodge and GM both put 20s on factory vehicles so I don't think tire size to wheel size ratio is that big of a deal. Also I lived in So-Cal for almost 5 years.

They look fine on the newer vehicles, cause even the trucks are built more like cars nowadays. But on the older square bodies the look :sign9:. Just a personal opinion again. But just so you know, people have done it before....and there is a reason why you don't see it very often

I guess I'm just one of those punk kids that thinks it looks cool, lol. IMO the 15" American racing wheels that are on it right now look way to small with the 35s I'm running I would hate to see them with 38s or 40s. My blazer will rarely see off-road, I plan on putting a new paint job and getting rid of the rhyno lined top as well.

You won't prove anything. There are lots of them around, and they look terrible. Why not trade the Blazer for something else?
