I have a 1990 GMC Suburban 4x4 1500, 5.7 TBI
I have heard of people using GM top end cleaner as preventative maintenance and for certain problems.
Any thoughts on this and is it worth it to use it ?
Also, how would you use it on my particular vehicle ?

just go to the store and but seafoam it is the same thing, it really helps clean out the carbon in the intake tract

Is it the same ? I have always believed GM's was a superior product. Same with EOS, that always gets dumped in my new rebuilds.

So whats the best way to use it in my vehicle ?
Run it through a vacuum hose etc...??

Pour it in the carb/tbi until it stalls and let it sit for 15 min. Fire it up pour the rest in, then you done.

It's been years since I've used top engine cleaner. But one thing comes to mind....smoke screen! Only thing I've seen smoke more was a Grand National on a road trip to burn the oil out of the exhaust after a turbo swap. Definetly seems too work. I also use EOS on all engine assemblies.

I thought GM stopped making that stuff? Maybe they just removed some chemicals. We used it on a couple of friends cars and trucks, smoothed out the idle and small improvement in mpg. Good stuff.

Last year my Auto class ordered a whole bunch of that stuff because it was supposed to be discontinued, anyone got any info on this?

As far as I know it's still available, we've used it at the dealership for years.
You can pour it in the carb or throttle body like jim88k5 said, or pull off a vacuum hose w/manifold vacuum and suck it into the intake that way. we used to mix it 3=1 with gas and run it through injector cleaning canisters. most recently GM has had us filling cylinders and doing decarbon soakdowns , either way you use it Good stuff. oh yeah & enjoy the smoke show:D spy hunter anyone lol!!!
