On my 90 3/4 ton Suburban it has 8 lug auto lockers in the front.
I've always heard bad things about all auto lockers... but why would GM put a weak device on a 3/4 ton truck with 8 lug hub?
Are they any good?

If you mean the locking hubs, GM did it because people were too lazy to get out and do it manually.

They are the same as the 6-lug ones, and they are crap. Replace with manuals :D

I meant locking hubs... Yeah I've always heard bad things about those auto locking hubs... Have you personally had a bad experience with them?

My '83 burb had em also. I didn't trust and changed out with warn manual hubs which I like much better. The install was simple. Bought them at autozone for $80 I think.

Yep. Had a set on the V2500 Burb when I bought it ... damn things would never lock. Took 'em apart, cleaned & lubed 'em, etc.

Replaced with manuals, now I KNOW when they're locked or not. The ex still has that truck, and even though she's the queen of lazy, she knows to get out and lock and load for the snow.
