Lacking a puller, have ued a few other "tricks" to get outer wheel bearings out of the axle tube..first I removed all the "logs" or rollers and then I took my arc welder and ran 3 short beads on the remaining "shell" of the outer race, then let it cool, and after it does,it will have shrunk several thousandths and can be wiggled out by hand or using a screwdriver easily..just be careful not to weld it onto the housing, all you need is a small spot weld in the center of the race..this works well on pinion bearings too,so the outer one can be replaced without taking the whole diff apart..
A cuttin torch can be used too,the bearing shell will cut quicker that the housing, being hard steel..I have also used a dremel with a cut off disc to carve a slot in the outer race, then smack it with a sharp cold chisel,it'll split the race and let it be removed easily..
