Check into it before you start tryin to bend the law. My 76 only needed a crankcase breather and the line with the pcv to the base of the carbuerator. We have kinda a different break cuz our trucks weigh more than 6000 lbs. Anyway, check it out and good luck to ya in the future.

Mine is a 84 and I know it needs a bunch of stuff I don't even want to begin to mention. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif.
It will prolly pass the sniffer cause I keep it maintained but it will fail the visual for shure. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

What exactly do you have/don't have on there? We can make it look right if the major systems are still there. The sticker on radiator support will show what you need. I believe its just egr, smog pump, pcv valve, and vapor canister. You can look at mine Sunday. I passed visual with half the hoses and those stupid ugly switches removed from water neck, as well as the pass side exhaust pipe EFE taken off. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Jerry,

I've got a 1990 Dodge parts truck that has all the emmissions stuff on it. You're welcome to use any of it, as I'm gonna part it out anyway.... /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

So you have an FI motor in it? Or is it still carbed? I know here in UT if you upgrade to an FI you don not need a bunch of the smog stuff.

Nah, I sold the FI system to a member here and he didn't take the block so I ended up using it, just put in an intake and carb.

A guy at work performed a magic trick and was able to get the K5 thru emmissions and 2 years tags for $100..
this takes a huge load off me.. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Allright let's hear it. How'd he do that? The DMV makes me go through the emissions every year with my 74. I'd love to have 2 year tags.

That is weird, my 83 gets 2 year tags. I wonder if there is a certain criteria /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I believe 1981 is the cutoff year.
19?? to 1966 no emissions test/ 2 year tags
1967 to 1981 yearly test and tags
1981 to ? test and tags every two years
And I believe new cars do not need tested for the first
few years [2,3,or 4] I'm not sure which

I don't have emissions up here...
and the temps are only in the 80s to 90s during the summer, and the air is clean, and the traffic is not bad,
