How goes the prep? We really need to get some good pics and video of this bad boy. Your blazer is probably one of the last "known" class legal race Blazers out there.. I personally find it a big deal because c3 is a class that isn't as popular as it used to be.. And no one seems to want to run leafs.. That aside the fact that your gonna do this is a big deal.
The leaf springs are a conflicting issue for me. I have fought to have the rules changed in Class 3, five or six years ago, to allow all vehicles to run coil overs, but maintain the axle configuration, i.e., straight axle, TTB, IFS. The Bronco guys, which had been most of the class competition, pissed on the idea, because SCORE already would allow them to ditch the original configured spring for a multiple stage coil-over. Never mind it kept the possibility of have V8 Jeeps race or more competitive Blazers. The rule still should be changed, and now that I am going to enter the SCORE 1000, I will be back at it, trying to get it done.
I would build a new radius arm Blazer in a New York minute, if the rules allowed, but with the advent of the Vintage Classes, I am happy to run my Blazer as is. I had a blast at the NORRA. It was a haul-ass fest. I had the privilege of beating Walker Evans, on one of the faster legs of the event, by a minute. My turd against his LS3 powered Dodge.
Although I am not a one brand car guy, I am proud to carry the K5 Blazer banner when I run, and I look forward to sharing my humble efforts.
