What are the plans, exhaust wise?

Shorty headers, 2.5" to the Y, 3" from the Y with a Flowmaster super 50 I believe, out the drivers side rear corner. I'll take a picture when I pick it up.

I basically wanted it the way I scabbed it together to fix the P.O stuff. Just finally getting around to having it done right
 
It sounds good. Some things happened between dropping it off and getting back to town. It's what you get when you just toss the keys I guess. They called me when it was done before I even knew the headers were in their hands. I wanted high and tight to eventually flat belly. Oh well. I guess I'll just drop the belly a few inches and make room for other ideas.

Shift linkage touches the header flange. Can't do anything against them because it's do to the engine mounts. I'll have to fix that with a different shifter I think.

Also realized it ran rough and really rich this afternoon. Found the spark wire touching. I'll fix that tomorrow.

Broke the alternator mounting bolt last week on the way home from the redwoods. I forgot to get pics of the damage. I'll try and drill it out this weekend when I get home.
I stopped at the first parts store and bought a second optima battery. Took the belt off the alternator and drove it home for 3 hours with no charge. Didn't have to swap batteries by the nats ass. The fuel gauge went to empty on the last corner and it cut out a couple times before pulling up to the garage.
Swapped batteries Monday. Put 25 gallons of fuel in the tank and ran errands before parking it at the airport for the week. Hopefully that yellow top will start it when I get home.
 
Not good. The bolts in the head good. It didn't come out. Plus it won the battle tonight with the extractor. Broke it off in the head. So I went in for the night. If I can't get the broken piece out of the hole I drilled. Il, have to remove the head. I have a spare engine that is of unknown condition that I can maybe use. I also emailed a Craigslist ad for a donor vehicle that has ignition issues.

I finally got back to working on the limo. Its hunting season and the camping trips that I need it for says I can put farm chores aside.
I use a technique at work that I started maybe 7 or 8 years ago. It's called Super Missile Rod. You weld dots on the broken bolt to build up material. The slag breaks off the center when it cools. Leaving slag on the outer edges. You then weld a nut with 7018 to the built up material. Spray penetrating oil on the nut and bolt. Slowly work the threads back and forth like a tap until it turns easy. I did it twice. Once for the extractor and once for the bolts. I dont even know why I try and drill broken bolts. I'm still 100% with this technique.

Got the alternator reinstalled. I'm dragging my feet still on converting to serpentine belt. Everything I do these days seems to take forever. Having a farm and multiple vehicles. The play rigs tend to get pushed off to the pasture. But, on that note, I've located a 6.0 liter 2500 pickup that will probably be sold really cheap. It will need some freshness out back into it but for the price I shouldn't be worried. If I get my hands on it than I'll go that route on the suburban.
So, back to the alternator and batteries. I ordered some Napa emergency vehicle batteries for a dual battery setup. The Optima was slow charged for a couple days and came back to life. Since I dont have the isolator for dual batteries yet, I reinstalled the Optima.
Today I'll be building the bed deck for the times I dont drag the trailer. Typically its fall and winter. Hunting season and snow wheeling. Be able to carry my gear and still have a bed of I need it.

Current dilemma is my sleeping arrangements. When I drag the trailer, my gear goes in it. The bed is made on the floor. It gives the kids room to crawl and play when it's time to go to sleep. Also, on those long travel roads with nothing to do. They can stretch their legs while I creep across the countryside. So, my bed deck needs to be removable. Here's version number 1. Full sheet of 4x8 1/2" sanded pine. 1x2 runners on the side and vertical support in the center. Front of the sheet rests on the folded seats.
I use these plastic Husky boxes that have nice wheels and handles. Two of them fit side to side with the seats up. Can't get 4 in there with the seats up though. That is ok since I can reach the stuff at the tailgate.
My frame wood split when screwed together. So, if this works for us. I'll get some hard wood and pre drill all of my holes.

I sure do have a love hate relationship with this rig. Everytime I get started on fixing it to go wheeling. I start getting ambitious. My lights didn't all work. Found a corroded relay. In the process realized I need to build the correct harness to replace what I originally installed. Laying on the bed deck I was looking at the roof. What did I see? Wiring, lots and lots of wiring. I guess I'll just start a list in the garage. There is no way I have enough time to do all that.
