"Backcountry Limo"

Jess and I decided that since we got her a suburban. We'll make hers the nice one that you're not afraid to take grandma to town in but still be capable. The limo is staying on the path of ultimate adventure capabilities and not trying to juggle making it nice alao. I've been buying 3 cans of primer dark grey everytime I go to bimart. I hope to have it painted by the new year. It's getting murdered out.
I've also decides to hold out on tires a little longer. I'm hoping for a 37-38" size in the toyo open country rt.

The hold out on tires didn't last. The RT version of the open country will not have new bigger sizes for a while. Apparently the plant that is making them is rebuilding to accommodate the future demand that they expect for that tire.
After a little chatting with Les Schwab Springfield main street manager and my commercial tire guy. Overland Dysfunction is running the Open Country MT on both the Jimmy of Foylinj and the Limo. They hooked me up with a killer deal on 37x13.5x18.

One thing that is often overlooked is the availability of a tire when adventure traveling. After some thought process we came to the conclusion that the 35" that Jason has on the Jimmy and the 37" that I now have on the limo will be readily available at the majority of Les Schwab stores on the west coast. When we looked at the 38 in the computer it was only listed at major metropolitan areas or the distribution center.
That being said, I kept the two rear A/T for spares. I will put one on a trailer mount and the other when a build the bumper, on a swing out bumper mount.
If we decide to take a trip outside the Les Schwab realm than I will pickup a brand new matching spare before we leave.

good thinking about tires Nate, when I bought the toyos I have on my dodge I think your schwabs was the only one in the state that stocked them, I'm probably going to go thru hell if one of them gets trashed.

I think it's time to fix my fuel sender. Half tank and I lost power 2 miles from the gas station. I knew I was getting low and that my gauge was inaccurate but dang. Another argument to keep a rig fuel injected versus putting a carb on. Electric fuel pump cycled the last drop. Started it and went full throttle than coasted as far as possible. Cycled the key and started again till I made to the pump.

Oh yeah, and you should see the weird looks the people gave me today as I was cleaning it at a self serve shampoo vacuum place. ;)

The limo took a beating yesterday.
Known failures were, broke the exhaust off. Finished the trip with a rubber snubber holding each section against the headers.
Melted the fan relay and pigtail. That was only about 5 miles into the snow. Overheated pretty bad and than I wired it full on.
Front output shaft seal for the transfer case is just steady dripping.
My secondary fan started making noise.
I think the cb antenna is toast. I hit a bird at 60 with the base on the last trip.

I cut the exhaust off at the headers tonight to fix it for the trip to Spokane. While under the rig I inspected the leak at the tcase.
A bummer situ there. The minor crack that I epoxied expanded and ran. Looks like I'll be replacing the tcase also.
My father in law dropped off a couple of cooling fans out of wrecked rigs from his work. Ones a dual so I'll pull the Taurus fan out that draws to much amperage.
All in all, crawling under it might have denied it the trip to Spokane next week.

Ordered some lights from our vendors closeout list.
2 20" Vision X reflex
2 12" Vision X reflex
10 watt LEDs in them.

Pulled the Suburban up to the house tonight. Big plans to take it out last month were put on hold cause of things wrong with it. Headers, exhaust, brakes and a windshield are top priority.
Seals, bed platform, sound deadning, stereo, new fan setup and electrical cleanup are on the to do list also.
Doing a split bed deck that will work as a solo rig setup.

Fiberglass Front Fender...

Great Looking Suburban,
Do you know the brand of Fiberglass Fenders you have?
Also, how much bigger than stock is the wheel opening?

Thanks

I think you're in the wrong thread. Steel fenders and stock opening.

Jessica gave me her priorities for repair. I asked her to give me a list that she wanted done. What she doesn't know is that it's in preparation for a week long trip at the end of June. Maybe this time I'll be able to meet my self appointed deadline.

deadlines add stress for me, i wanted my suburban running by a certain date last year and i lost sleep over it, especially after i blew the deadline buy a month or more. right now Overland Expo is my current deadline for a few items on the truck, i think i'll be ready in time.

stick to it man!

Sorry about that
In the beginning of your build, your fenders were white, I thought they were aftermarket fiberglass.
