"Backcountry Limo"

So this last trip on Memorial Weekend did a number on the limo. All kinds of little problems popped up. Brakes, Fan wiring is more than thought originally, Rear wheel seals, transmission leaks, speedometer cable seizing up, oil pressure Guage no worky no more, exhaust leaks again and I tried to fix the steering only to mess it up and realize my kingpins might not be getting grease.
So tonight I get home and get ready to go workout with a few friends at an archery range. Walk over to the suburban only to find a large amount of atf on the ground. Crawl under and realize that I'm missing two adapter bolts and a mount bolt. The other 4 adapter bolts were loose on the trans. Come to find out that the threaded holes are pulling threads out. Put new bolts in and tightened up the others the best I could. Went for my drive to go workout and it seems to be holding. I'll go get some helicoils to repair them right.
After replacing all of the brakes, I need to get my master cylinder swapped out because now I have a really soft pedal.
The steering is going to have to go to the alignment shop I think to fix it right.

It has a slight pull to the right when you let go of the wheel at an idle in park.

Basicly it needs a true alignment to dial in the hydro assist porting in the orbital and straighten the steering wheel at neutral

Got a dual fan take off from an explorer that got wrecked in the front. A new dual fan controller also to hook up

A lot. I'm not sure totally but enough to cool it quickly and shut off to fast causing the controller to melt this last weekend. :(

Dang... I'm just running two 14" flex-a-lite fans and two relays. No issues in over a year now.

Well, the limo took another beating today. Initial inspection isn't looking good for winter wheeling/exploring. Found a broken engine mount while fueling up this morning. One of two mount tabs was broken off. Tried finding a welder on the way to the mountains with no luck on a saturday. I felt obligated to continue with the trip though since we weren't going far into the mountains for sledding with more family members. Should've cancelled when I found the broke tab knowing that, even though it was a short trip, I've been denied this road every time I attempt it in the snow. Chained up all 4 early to try and take it easy in 4lo. About a half mile past my previous best the transfer case kicked into neutral making me think I lost my trans. Once I realized and shifted back to 4lo, I found out the mount was officially broke completely.
Used a chain and block of wood to hold the engine in place. Pics will be uploaded later. Got all the rigs turned around and headed back to town. The original piece of wood fell out. (Caught on fire on the way home) put a new larger piece in place.
Beat the snot out of my front driveline on the transfer crossmember.
Lost my speedometer cable somewhere along the way. (Possible reason for the check engine light)
Engine oil pressure gauge was pegged at 60 for the last 6 months. Showing 10psi by the time I got home. Plus a decent leak when I crawled underneath after reaching the highwsy.
Header was beat on the shock tower when the mount broke and again when the first block fell out. Dent is big enough to cause some runnability problems and is leaking good now.
I'll take a better look in the morning and daylight.

sounds like an exciting trip.

Last time I was on the trail I broke my trans adapter in half so I feel your pain.

Picture of the firewood and chain that brought it home.

You sure do abuse this thing!

I built it to explore and play. Unfortunately everyone seems to use it as a measuring stick also. If it doesn't make it than we turn around. I usually don't get the already beaten path. Instead, the path gets a beating on the limo. I don't think we got many pictures from the trip either. I crashed the drone first thing and when I launched it a second time one of the blades wasn't tight. The blade came off, it did a flip and ended upside down I the snow for a second time. I put it away.

And to think, this road has beat me every time I've attempted it in the snow. I'm going back as soon as possible, because I'm determined to conquer road 2618/2619

I put a heater in the cab due to leaks. I think I'll have to order some bulkhead fittings to run the wires through. Lots of moisture inside. I can't wait to have a shop again.

Well the good news is the engine has oil pressure and the alternator produces voltage. The bad news is the electrical issues have killed the battery. I have 3 weeks to either fix the limo or find a RTT mounting solution for the Dodge.
