Anyone know what size socket one needs to take off balljoints on a D44 ???
Do you mean the great big slotted nut on the top with the cotter pin through it? I'm don't remember what size that one is, but I'll check it out tommorrow. If you mean the sleeve thing under that big nut, it takes a special 4 prong socket...You could probably get it at Napa or somethin, But I just made mine out of an old socket. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
I believe the upper is 1 5/16 and the bottom is 1 1/8th. I can check tonight though. I just bought the sockets to do this job, hopefully my memory is correct.
If you buy new ball joints, they come with new nuts. You could hit the parts store and then size sockets to match.
top nut is 1 15\16". there is also a special balljoint socket needed. not sure what size bottom nut is. do a search someone wrote a great tech. page on all needed tools and how to do.have fun /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
Harbor Freight has the ball joint removeal tool on sale right now for $19.99. Wish I saw this before I paid $20 to have them pressed out and and new ones pressed in!
