Turns out I was hitting the bed-floor/inner wheel-well when wheeling with the 39.5's and being I just put 42's on, I needed to come up with a solution.

More lift, not gonna happen.
Bump stops? Naw.
Metal cutting? :hack: :grind: no interest in that, beside the fact that the cage is in the way and all that I could gain would only be an inch.

So I figured if I can't stop it, give it something smooth to ride on and not tear up the tire. (yeah, that was happening)

I like to use what I have around so I started pondering along those lines.
Came up with the idea of cutting some 1.75 DOM tubing in half and welding it to the bed-floor/inner wheel-well lip. :dunno:

A 28.5 inch piece seemed to fit the bill.

Should work pretty well, even if I stuff em, all they'll do is rub along the smooth tube...in theory.

what about cutting out a small piece of the floor and welding in the tube in place of it?? this way it doesn't act like a bumpstop, have about the same clearance as before, will slide on something smooth...but I guess you don't want to do that much fabricating. Looks like it'll work.

Wheel rub

Nice idea,VT but is there any chance the whole rearend is shifting by hitting that rub block. just a thought, you're probably safe.... J.

Sorry for the untimely demise, also lost one way too early. In my thoughts and prayers....

Tub them inner fenders. Put two sets together and cut the floor out up to the frame, make the fenders that wide. Worked for me.

You missed the part where I posted that the cage is in the way.

The full family cage runs on/near the floor less than an inch away from the wheel well.

If it didn't, then yes, the way you described would of been done.

hey

Why certainly. Sorry VT I'm on days off so brain is in standby mode.

No worries.

Will a factory bench still fit with that mod?

Nice job BTW. :waytogo:

Also helps when he wants to bolt up his 17" wide M/T drag slicks!!!!

Yep but they look cool on my 24 inch dubs with spinners.

OK, thanks. Figured you were going down that road, just didn't show in the pics. Post them up, when you get them mounted I would like to see... J.

He's running 37" Krawlers BTW.

Back to the thread...

Wheeled it enough up on the property that I got it to rub some.

Nothing major but it worked pretty good for a band-aid IMO.

Zero rips or tears in the inner tire and that was the plan. :smirk:
