I will be towing a small trailer. Will this be an issue on Caslton? 16 feet long on 13" wheels and about 400lbs.

Not from what I understand. I think I'll still have the longest vehicle...

shouldnt be a problem. There are some Tight switch backs but the road is fairly wide. We have seen a Ton of Horse and cattle trailers up there so you should be good

I know Fred was planning on staying at the trailhead and if there are any others we can just pick you up up there when we pause to air down or unload.

Already not looking forward to washing that damn alkali mud off.:doah:

Did I mention how much I hate mud??? arghh. Speaking of that- where's a good carwash that doesn't care about me washing the buggy off? Is there one on the west side of Fruita? It would have to be on the way from 21 rd back to Moab.

Here's the view of the South Platte River from our shop.

Normally that river should be well within the trees down there. But we're on the opposite side of the state from 21 Road. I just wanted an excuse to post a picture.

Not sure on that but there is the one in Moab that's easy to get to Worst case scenario.

I hate mud as well. But for some reason when I get in it the loud pedal gets pushed:dunno:

Make a beach out of your sand bags and have cocktails on the beach. You might not ever have beach front property again in your lifetime so take advantage of it.:doah::haha:

Tons of Places to wash your truck. One in Fruita next to City Market. And a Truck Wash over by the Acorn Truckstop. So East or WEst of 21 RD

Hey guys!!
So I'm going to be in Moab Wednesday afternoon and spending the night... I'd still like to come down Casteton with you guys, but not sure if I want to chance the 2hr drive back to Junction in a mostly untested rig. Would the diesel tow rig be able to complete the road okay? It's a 4wd Superduty with fresh tires, but from the posts here I am a little worried about any mud.

Hey Scott and Crew:

Thinking about driving out from Moab up to the La Sals to meet you guys on Thursday. How are you going to drop down out of the La Sals...into Castle Valley or directly into Moab via the Sand Flats Road?

You won't have a problem with Castleton Road, Think wash boarded county road that winds thru and over some mountains, but nothing a total stock vehicle can't handle. A bit narrower than two full lanes in a couple spots. Watch out for the farmers flying and you may see some cows, deer etc and ATV's. No 4 wheel drive necessary on any of it.

Hunters and camps for sure. could be super snot mud at the Mid point where the Farms are. But the rest of it will be graded and maintained by the county and the mine.
