hi

I will put a 454 into my 1986 K15 using sbc motor mounts

but are there any issues with stock mechanical fuel pump touching or being very close to the frame ?

thanks

There are two different pumps. One is taller than the other. Use the short one on a 4x4 frame. The tall one sits real close to the crossmember.

thanks dude
but what if I wanted to use the taller one ?( I was told it is better for high performance applications )

All depends on the clamshell of the motor mount. 2 and 4wd use different heights of clamshells.

I had a K30 once with the tall fuel pump and it sat on the crossmember. The vibrations were enough to wear a hole in the pump where it rubbed against the crossmember and leaked fuel everywhere. A short pump fixed that problem.
I think that motor was swapped in and used 2wd clamshells as the harmonic balancer was real close to the crossmember, too.

If you use a true 4x4 clamshell, I don't see why a tall pump wouldn't work. On my '85 K30, everything is a true 4x4 part on it but as long as I've owned it, I've never paid attention to which pump it has.
