Well you have your priorities correct, but then maybe you need to raise your prices and/or reduce your hours before you get burned out on it. :waytogo:

Yeah it all just happened in like a day, and then I had my car stolen, and then I went and got a truck, and now im trying to catch up.

I have since been telling people no on certain orders, and yes I have raised my prices.

I had the same thoughs as the other guys about the pic initially, but given your responses, it might be working exactly the way you need it to. First off, you have all the work you can handle, so being "more professional" isn't necessary in order to get business, and second, if you're real goal is to inspire kids, then a goofy pic of a kid doing this is just fuel for another kid to say "Hey, I could do that too!".

Keep doing what you're doing, it's workin' for ya.

Nice, good read.

I like your attitude on the attire too. I started with IBM R&D back in the late 90s (used to be called the Bocca Facility). Did the interviews and such remote, my resume was solid and they wanted me on the team, so it wasn't really a "interview" situation. I showed up for the first day of work in t-shirt, blue jeans and cowboy boots. Dress code had been "relaxed", they called it "business casual", so slacks and button up shirts with dress shoes instead of suits and ties. Manager nearly passed out, told me to go change and come back. My response was, it wasn't stated in my contract as a condition for employment. If you want me, I'm here, otherwise you pay the bailout clause and I go somewhere else. Long story short, an hour later I had badge-only access to the required labs and started a 2 year run where I was the ONLY person working in t-shirt and jeans at a true-blue IBM research facility... :haha:Most of my coworkers and supervisors (mostly "IBM Fellows"), including the original choking intro manager found it amusing, eventually.

I just spent $3800 on a single no maintenance license of Solidworks 2019 this morning.

Ill have to update with some pics when I get time, i used to do all my posting on the forums at work hehe.

Hey guys!

I haven't been on much since April when I quit my job because I only use Forums on a computer, and I'm not at work on a computer all day long anymore lol.

But @jekquistk5 built me a pretty sweet desktop and ive gotten to start using the home office some and thought id give an update.

Lifes been awesome! Shannon and I just got married on Sept 14th (had a plethora of ck5 dudes involved :D @jekquistk5 @Richcz28 @swettysblazer, even @76zimmer showed up! ). This summer kinda revolved around work, my cousins wedding, dunefest (which was the best one yet imo), and then our wedding.

Work has been good and really busy. I'm not loaded yet but I spent alot of money on the wedding and solidworks and a few other tools right after quitting my job, so I figure if I can get by after that I should be ok once things mellow out.

Ill have to start digging up all the pics of stuff ive made since april and post after. Definitely been an incredible year.

Hope everybody is doing well!

@Deuling good to here ya .

and thanks for helping my buddy hobo jim on instagram in his bead rolling learning . he has been going crazy with it . i got pics of some of his stuff for me or friends i will post up .

His stuff has gotten so much better so fast!
almost as fast as you did . he had me have my machinest buddy make the die's as you told him to make .

he was making a sign today when i stopped by his place .

i kind of think seeing the sign you made for me got him going on his bead rolling hobby / mad money

That's awesome! Glad somebody else caught the bug!

Speaking of that, I actually just found out 3 days ago im getting a $1500 grant from a public school here in MI to go talk to a bunch of students about fabrication and bring in some examples and make them something to keep.

Eventually teaching fab would be my ideal goal, so this should be a super cool experience!

Buggy stuff. The trunk has a big chuck cut out of the middle/front/bottom with a shell riveted inside so that the supercharger pully can clear the box but still function. He didn’t like how the old one had to sit so high above the engine.

Scoops took forever and he made me redo them a bunch of times and this is the look he wanted.
