PRI was pretty cool too....

So if you guys remember, 4 years ago I bought the cheap Beadroller, did all the junk etc then bought a Mittler Bro’s 36” Jamey Jordan series beadroller (Big Blue).

Well Jamey Jordan (probably the best beadroller on the planet) started following me on Instagram. Then he started messaging me with tips and such.

Fast forward a few years, lots of texts between the two of us, and he’s always been pushing me to better myself, or to not cheat by doing sanding to hide imperfections etc. He even always refers to me as Little Brother which I always thought was cool, but wasn’t sure if he just did that with people...

Well he tells me I should come to PRI in Indy (you guys all need to go to this at some point in your life, it is Motorhead heaven and everyone is there) and hangout. So the 2nd morning of Fabtech I’m hooked by these trade shows and I go register for PRI.

Jamey said they’d let me do some rolling with him in the Mittler Bro’s booth so last Wednesday before I left I burned and laid out 10 small panels that would fit in my backpack with some simple musical notes and lines just to bring along and let people play with that walked up.

I woke up early in the am and busted down to Indy and went straight to the MB booth and walked up behind Jamey as he’s beadrolling for a crowd and whisper in his ear:

“Oh man that’s like magic or something...”
And he looks up and goes “Holy shit you’re taller than I thought” :haha:

And from there on out it was literally dreams come true for the next 48 hours.

We chatted, caught up on things in general, then got to doing some rolling. He’d be rolling and people would ask questions, then he’d take them over to see this tool or that and he’d say “Adam you can run the roller for a bit dude” and then I’d beadroll for people and then we kept doing that back and forth for like 4 hours... At one point I’m rolling for like a whole circle of people around me, explaining things and just teaching people and I see out of my peripherals Jamey standing over next to the MB owner (who is bug eyed like mouth open staring at me :haha:) and the owner purposely very loudly goes: “So who’s this new kid we picked up? He’s great at drawing in a crowd” haha! And at that point I was like pure bliss like in the zone high on life haha.

Jamey made it a point throughout the day to take me to meet all kinds of people. Like not just point me where to go, but like “Adam, I gotta go introduce you to Bruce the owner of Trick Tools”, same with Michael Furick, and a bunch of other people that he thought could help me push some of my stuff etc.

It was incredible. He calls me little brother and he and his wife truly treated me like family and like we had known each other forever. It was truly like a top 5 moment of my entire life.

That's awesome :waytogo::saweet:

I also got the privilege to meet Thomas Patsis of Cold Hard Art. Thomas is one of my favorite fabricators. He’s like Macgyver with a tig torch.

He is also Miller Welders tradeshow front man like how Jamey is Mittler Bro’s.

I just wanted to go say hi to him quick Thursday at like 4, show ends at 5.

And he ends up chatting with me until like 5:30 and literally they were like turning the lights off in the joint haha. Way cool dude and he actually has been following my work he said which was very cool.

Also passing out my Dzus Tools was an incredible ice breaker (as they usually are) and ended up getting some laughs and some great responses.

I had passed Jesse James earlier in the show and offered him one of my T shirts and he said “I really appreciate it man but I’ll be honest it probably won’t get worn and I’d hate for you to waste a shirt” which I honestly found really cool of him to say rather than just take it and toss it in some pile with 1000000 other free shirts he gets.

So I shook his hand quick and walked on to deliver some hot rod rear crossmember plates I brought from home to the Miller booth for one of their reps. (And Jamey totally was eyeing them up as I offered him the shirt and stuff which was pretty great haha).

So later on in the day I pass by him again and I said fock it. Walked up and said “Jamey, sorry to bug you again, but if you won’t take a t shirt, at least take one of my Dzus tools” and I hand him a dick shaped Dzus Tool/ Bottle opener with my name and Made in USA stamped on it. He looks at it for like half a second totally caught off guard and then looks at me and yells word for word “This is the coolest Dzus design ever!!!!” And laughs a bunch haha:haha:

Then same thing, thanks for your time etc etc and I shook his hand, made a few comments about quitting job and this and that and went on my way. (I assume these guys get annoyed at all the people spending 10 minutes trying to talk with them so I made sure to keep things like under a minute lol)

I’ve been sick with a sinus infection for a month now trying to kick it without antibiotics and I did everything in my power from Allegra D, all the pharmacy cold drugs and expectorants, and stuffed 4 gallons of saline through my nose in the last 2 weeks with a Neti Pot to try and make it to this show. And have hardly worked or made any money in a month.

I never kicked it but it kept it at bay long enough for me to do what I had to do, and then Friday morning it was just getting terrible again and I called the doc while in the hotel room and he sent Amoxicillin to the pharmacy at home.

Somehow that made it like even more awesome in a weird way because the trip not only went as I had hoped but infinitely more incredible than I expected.

And after all the cool stuff and people I got to meet and shake hands with.... This picture right here is all that matters. I honestly can’t look at it without getting choked up. I bet I’ve spent 3000 hours bent over a beadroller in the last 4 years and this made all the late nights, weekends, and missing tons of events with friends and family feel Justified.

so how are you transferring the photos to autocad so you can then burn them? Are you just importing the photos and then tracing the features you want? This is a very cool idea for automotive gifts. I’ve got access to both autocad/fusion 360 and CNC plasma tables at work. But I’m no artist. Lol

Man I wish it was that easy!!!

No I paid a graphic designer like $140 to make the photos into cad detail dxf files.

But they made them way too detailed at first and I spent like 6 hours deleting and moving lines because the first batch blew out from lines being too close.

Good job kid, I enjoyed seeing the posts from the show.
I can’t believe you called Jesse James “Jamey”
