bed side / b pillar squeak after top off

I took my top off for the first time on my 87. Now the bed side squeaks against the b pillar. It does it constantly and drives me crazy.

Should I just separate the sheet metal?

Would it be better to tack weld the two so they stop chafing?

I don't want to weld it if it will crack the sheet metal later. I also don't want to make the squeak worse. Not sure of the best course of action.
