i have a 1978 gmc jimmy 4x4 and i want to put a 6 inch lift kit on it. im trying to find the best lift for my tuck. i know wvert one has there opinion on who makes the best stuff and i want to hear every ones opinion. i will be doing the work my self so i f you know how hard it is to install please let me know.

and i was wondering if i put a 6 inch lift on my truck can i run 37 inch tires

My personal experience is this. Superlift is the stiffest (best for winches, big blocks, and least sag over time in the 6" and up springs. Skyjacker soft ride for 6" to 8" seems to be the best all around road manners and trail use. The tuff country stuff gives the best flex but sags like hel l over time. I am going back with the skyjaker 8" on my burb project. I want something that isnt 2 inches less in 24 mths and has some flex. But, I am not going to spend all my time in the rock garden and will drive it to the trail. I think who's kit is the best....depends on what you want to do with it. Alot of people seem to like ORD's kit....but they push tuff country. But in all fairness to them, I think they probably build the kit with the most flex for trail use.

i was looking at the skyjacker i like there stuff but i have never used it my self do you know how hard they are to install and do you know how well they flex or dose that depend on witch kit i buy

I would STRONGLY suggest you spend a week or so reading the forum before buying anything..

lift kits are best pieced together... ORD will do this for you if you desire.. BDS and TC are usually your best bet up front, shackle flip out back with a combo of longer shackles and a zero rate outback.....

i plan on doing alot more looking befor i buy anything right now im just trying to see what other people have done and what they know works. i dont know what you mean when you say a zero rate

Yep read read and read might take you a while to digest everything but you will get one heck of a nice 6" lift.

Alot of folks have different opinions and alot of us here are after a comfortable ride and good flex, no off the shelf kit does that, except the ORD one.

One thing you may consider and I am sure you will read this is extending your shock mounts up, using ford shock towers ( search) or whatever tickles your fancy it is super simple and allows a much longer shock to be fitted in the front.

There is lots on moving your front shackle hanger for a better angle on the shackle (front) I think this is worthwhile and you only need a drill and some bolts to do it.

Also look at bracing up your steering box mount too

This site can be very expensive :D
