I need a new alt. The 2 year old one took a crap today. Wouldnt mind a higher amp one since im running dual batteries and a winch but it has to be close to a drop in solution. I dont have the time to be making a lot of mods to make it work.20240416_161054.jpg20240416_161050.jpg

This one is good, couldn't keep with my low speed needs, If yours is lower than 100 amps, and working for you this will be an update.

Any alternator that has a higher amp output then you’ll need to check what gauge wire is going to the battery and install a heavier gauge wire if necessary before you let the smoke out of your truck. :deal:

I replaced mine on my 88 V10 with one from a 1988 P30, which is 105A. Direct bolt in from what i remember.
I used a Napa 213-4561D

Yep. The CS130 style alt that you have is pretty good. 105 amp usually put out about 125a cold, and drop down to about 115a when hot. They also put out lots of amps at low rpm, which is what you want. I personally would stay with a CS130, and just get a good quality unit. I build CS 130's from all new parts using the large bearing cases, and high cooling rear cases. I have one on my pickup, that is about 15 years old, and have jump started at least 200 cars with it. No failures! I did freshen it up with new bearings a couple of years ago. Built from scratch they cost about $225

Is yours a serpentine belt?
Also when you go above the 120 amp with a 12SI alternator you want to see a chart from the manufacturer showing the amps and rpm.
Like @Wes Harden said at idle some don't give out enough
This ⬆️⬆️⬆️information is the most important before you buy anything else.

You can go to an undersized pulley to spin the alternator at a higher RPM at idle. You have to look at the maximum alternator RPM if you do this and calculate what that would be at maximum engine RPM for any change in pulley size.

I went with the 140 amp Power Master one wire from Summit. The rebuild kit is $40 and I carry that with me (just in case).

I’m running a dual battery as well. The winch and air are on the secondary battery.
