So my son calls me to meet him at the gas station.
He drives an 86 k20 that is his daily an has learned to wrench on
He recently did the summit racing max efi system install. (different story)

So I head over to the gas station an like me.he will talk to anyone with an older car
especially a square body.
Well long story short there was a gentleman whom was driving an 85 k20 long bed
an was told it needed a tune up. what does he do instead, buy a new eddy carb (quadrajet is in the box now)
As well as valve adjustment, actually exhaust leak.

Long story short he wanted a newer truck that is more reliable an capable of DD duty.
we traded trucks a few days later
I traded my 2000 gmc sierra 1500 for his 85k20

So far everything seems functional
the PO had the PS pump replaced at a shop an he operated to have the single belt pulley installed.
I have an extra pulley I'm going to swap out.
I'll get some more pictures added as I start working on it.
best part I think
Everything is factory stock to include the tires an dog dish hubcaps
few odd add on were put I'm place not sure about those though

1st is OLD SCHOOL trailer brake control line in to cab to unit .

if you wish to remove it its super easy . undo factory line from TEE . undo extra line from TEE . remove TEE . install factory line back in to master . blead that axle brakes and good to go . small fluid chamber = rear line . big fluid chamber = front line .

rest i got no clue .

so worth keeping the trailer brake
or swap to a newer one
don't plan on towing anytime soon

final pics for now thinking of doing a build thread nothing fancy just a daily driver

my sons green k20 with him standing between both trucks.
clean bench that was thankfully covered by an ugly a@$ bench seat cover
the piles of rat nest of wires that I pulled out.
now to find the infamous conversion lug nuts
for some newer rims

should be the same tapper . its DRW nuts that are different .

but here is the conversion nuts to have the 9/16 thread AND external threads for the caps to fit .

good seller i have made a few purchases from him over the years .

Cool story, cool truck!

Keep the stock steel wheels!

Are you putting the Quadrajet back on?

Martin
I intend on keeping the stock wheels
I'm going to send them off to get re powder coated an get some pro comp tires
the 04 tires have toys on them.
I figured between my sons truck an mine we xan swap them around.
he is still looking for some aluminum mag wheels for his.

My goal is to keep it as original as I can while adding a modern touch
refurbish the AC system more so since it's all intact.
especially since it will be my daily driver
I have a 100 mile commute all open highway with scenic drives.
