So, I have decided to go with a Blazer tank for part of my fuel toting needs. I need the setup for an 86 (since that is what my crew cab is, and carbed) and want one that has baffles and is fully coated for corrosion resistance inside and out. I want the filler tubes, sender, straps, everything I'd need to swap one in. Where would be my best source? Thank you!!!!

Custom or aftermarket fuel cell is the way to go. I fabricated and built two saddle tanks for my 70' Chevy pickup with baffles and Autometer universal floats and sending units. Fabbed out of 11gage 304 stainless steel. Made them exact replica of the factory custom camper special factory tanks. All TIG welded. Came out bitchin. All I had left to do was TIG the lids on permanently. But I sold the truck before ever finishing them. Ass hole I sold the truck to and gave the two tanks to ended up yanking the big block and TH400 Trans and D60 rear end out of it and scrapped the rest of the truck. Should have never even sold the truck. Especially to that pos.

I don't know where to get the best replacement tank, but keep in mind that the factory blazer tank was hung off of 2 crossmembers that has the tops rounded over to wrap over the tank. If you get the crossmembers out of a blazer, they won't bolt into the K30 frame since it is taller. (I don't think that the frame got short enough in the tail. ) I would think that you could overcome this, but I don't know if that is what you would want.
I don't know if you have considered a suburban 40 gallon tank, if you have room.

Agree with comments on custom or using a fuel cell. As far as I am aware, there are no truly baffled K5 tanks being made by the aftermarket.

Considered it BUT, I am going to be bobbing the bed down to a rear overhang equal to a K5. Depending on how complicated the setup is, custom crossmembers shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not 100% on using a fuel cell or custom tank, I honestly don't desire to spend that kind of $$$! (already looks like I have to go custom tank for my before axle in frame mount tank) Also, I want a quick turnaround time, want to get the truck on the road ASAP!!!

The Spectra TBI tank I installed in my Blazer is baffled...

My Spectra TBI tank has a (terribly designed) sump in it, which is nowhere near what GM put in the tanks in terms of effectiveness.

This is what GM's sump designs looked like in general: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showpost.php?p=4992939&postcount=10 Tough to tell what it's really shaped like, but fuel has to flow through the hole shown in the fourth picture, around three or four corners (the sump is square) in the channel between the inner and outer sump walls to get to the pump, and there are no drains in it.

This is about what my spectra sump looks like except didn't have the little cross piece in the middle http://ls1tech.com/forums/attachmen...tra-efi-gas-tank-yay-nay-fuel-sump-baffle.jpg and another http://ls1tech.com/forums/attachmen...218097d1267284906-spectra-efi-tank-baffle.jpg Also seem to recall mine doesn't have nearly the same baffle height. Those are fill/drain holes in the bottom of the Spectra sumps BTW. :dunno: With a tank below 1/4, I'd rather the fuel that gets to the sump, stays there.
