BII Resurrection for Destruction

Dude the Jawhorses are awesome. Im pretty sure I got mine before anybody else really knew wtf they even were. They freekin rock though, so much faster than a regular vice and so versatile. JUST MAKE SURE TO ONLY CLAMP WITH IT IN THE LOCK POSITION!!! Otherwise you will strip the clamping teeth clean off if you press the foot lever down in the unlock position. They are very solid as well and the only downfall i have seen is the plastic locking nut for the rear leg, I may take it off and use a wing nut, otherwise awesome.

Lol I think I broke the display at lowes doing that.

So Im gonna start to see some build updates here because my truck isnt getting touched for another couple weeks cause Im breaking the chevy down and have no garage.

Im missing out on the minitruck goodness!

Using pipe or tube?

Guy with an offroad shop up in Traverse City built a Wagoneer with an exocage made of pipe a few years back. Only problem he found was the pipe would bend easier than the tube. Damaged the body in a few places on stuff he was sure tube would have held up to.

Nope I got a pipe bender. So oh well. Tube is cooler, but its more to buy, and more to bend. So Ill make due. Plus I can get pipe through work for a good price:D

I can't wait to see the finished product bud! You always have some sweet end results whether its the B-2 or the blazer

Thanks man!! Im gonna get dimensions off the bII tomorrow hopefully and start drawing a 3D model in Inventor at school of the cage, and different ideas. :D

Sounds like he should have used bigger pipe. Its been a long standing debate that in low speed/rubbing conditions pipe is actually stronger than tube as far as denting and distortion gos.

I think it will be strong enough. I think if I tie in some rock sliders to the frame in as many locations as possible then tie the exo into the rock sliders and into the front and rear bumpers it will really strengthen up the frame and allow for some nice jumpin and hard wheelin without destroying the frame. And with the 1/2 ton axles under their with the higher gears it should be a pretty tough trail rig I would imagine:D

Deuling, LOWER gears. Say it with me now. LOWER gears.

Stomis, it was my understanding he did a flop on a sidehill on the Loonie Run in Canada. That's when it bent and crushed one of he doors.

See aj, that's the way that makes sence to me, but one time I referred to 4.10s as a lower gear over 3.73s and I got attacked by people saying 4.10is high because it's numerically higher.:dunno:

Oh well y'all know what I meant. I mostly want the Exo for frame support, and with no removable top a full inner cage would be too much work.
Plus if I do Exo I can tack everything in place then lift the whole cage off with some help and weld it, then set it on and do the final tie INS.

Lower = higher numerically, higher = lower numerically.

Anyone says different, they're wrong.
