Yah what I figured, I just hate how sloppy the shifter is, im pretty sure to tighten them up you cant just buy the little plastic insert in there, but have to get the whole top unit of the tranny, not %100 on that but heard that somewhere.

The Mazda 5 speed stick used in the later trucks, and what you'd find behind a 4.0L, is a lot better than the earlier Mitsubishi unit. I loved mine and the shifter had a nice short, almost ratchety, throw through the gears. Several people asked if I had put some kind of Hurst shifter on it or something.
I miss it now when I drive my Tracker. Shifter's pretty squishy.
