Mine don't stop retracting, is like a Spanish inquisition torture device, if not that then being strapped to a table after angioplasty

Went to install a shift kit today. 4 pan flushes and filter changes and there’s still shit in the pan. Maybe because it’s missing all the check balls in the valve body? Who knows. It’s never slipped and it’s always shifted fine. Just hoping the shift kit limps it along long enough for me to afford the rebuild on the 4L80E and new Circle D converter.

So while I source some check balls I decided to tear apart dad’s old Holley carb to see why it’s always been such a bad carb. We’ve always had trouble with it dumping crap loads of fuel into his engine no matter what. The thing has maybe a 1000 miles on it. Haven’t found much yet other than some trash in one of the bowls. The shop installed some 6.5 power valves so I’m swapping those for 7.5’s. Had to stop so I didn’t get to see what size jets are in it but I’m certain they are to large.

Looks awesome!

Something to mention, it looks to me like your guideplates are not aligned quite right. I would adjust them so the roller tips are better aligned with the valve stems. If you loosen the rocker studs you can slightly move the guideplates to realign the valve stems, then retorque the rocker studs. Although maybe its an illusion and not necessary. Pictures only go so far.

After a rebuild on the Holley 4150 double pumper and a TCI shift kit in the trans, I finally got to drive it around and dang. This truck is actually fun to drive. Peppy and responsive. It’s not a manual valve body but I’m having so much fun shifting it I think I’m gonna order a ratchet shifter.

Before you buy, let me get you a pic of mine.
If it's what you want I can save you money.
It never was driven.
Mike put it in my c10 and I want to put a regular stock column shifter.
