That's one of those obstacles that picture and video do not do justice, it is way steep and way taller than it looks

It really was a bummer missing it, it's one of the events that gets marked on the calendar every year. I think the last one I missed was '08.
I had no hope of making it, but damn I sure did try. The hop is what killed the climb

That last bit is where almost everyone gets stalled. Lots of youtube videos of the same thing.

And coming back down is always where things go bad, if the truck gets out of shape on the way up (almost always if you don't make it) then you get-what-you-get on the way back down. For those that haven't driven it, it's too steep to be able to stop and think about what happens going back down, the truck just slides back down the hill even dry (with Moab slickrock).

And, you tried it with water in the bottom. You took one of the harder obstacles in any of Moab and made it 50% harder. There are very few that can make that one period, let alone in the wet. And you got pretty close, in a fullsize Blazer; you may have been in a very small group (I don't know of any) if you made it in a full body truck with water.

Sounds like you're all safe, and I'm sure you and the truck will live to see more good wheeling. I was shook for a couple weeks after my first big roll but if you want to keep going, get back on the horse. I watched my rollover video way too much, trying to figure out what I did wrong. In the end, learn if you can and move on. Sometimes things just happen and happen fast, I feel like that's what happened to you. One bad kick and the truck isn't square any more.

You will, on the other hand, have a great video to show people forever that will blow the minds of 99.9% of the population both in vehicle capability and driver skill. That's pretty awesome.

My buddy Kris took a smash load of very high quality photos on backward bill and Pritchett. He’s going through them now, selecting, and making tweaks to color, shadows, etc.

Hit him up at Kris.Miller@gmail.com to see what he has of your truck. He shoots professionally, so think about sending him a few bucks.

A minor picture below, but with a story. After Pritchett Canyon, we took the "easy dirt road" out. It was easy, but rough as all hell. At one point I heard something metal bouncing off the rocks. I was sure something had fallen off my truck. I got out looking around and didn't see anything for a little while. Then I spied the item below. I must of ran over it and kicked it up so it bounced off the rocks. When I picked it up and dropped it, it sounded just like what I heard.

Kinda funny some random old piece of metal on the road caused me so much consternation. :rotfl:

I did not get a ton of photos but I got some.

Friday on Coyote Canyon with @bdozeraz and @miniwally . It was a great day, we ran Moab Rim first and then hit Coyote in the afternoon. I only got a few shots at the beginning of the trail.

A few shots of Pritchett and an awesome shot of @r3dd0g and @bdozer going up White Knuckle Hill on behind the rocks backwards.

The first offroading of the trip: @rderosier going up the first pile of rocks on steel bender. Can't remember if we ran it backwards or forwards.

It was an excellent trip. Got to wheel with good people and great drivers!

Now that I'm home I have some time to get some of this stuff posted. We showed up on Monday after much struggling, but we didn't do much other than grab some dinner and relax since we were so exhausted (and we had been up since 2AM).

Tuesday we got up at the crack of 9AM and slowly got ready to head out on the trail. We were alone and waiting for Chad and Melissa to get back from a hike so we just ran Hell's Revenge out to the overlook.

Then a quick stop for lunch.

They still weren't back yet so we ran the second half of Fin's n Things.

When we got back we hit Hell's Revenge with them and didn't take any pictures because we suck.

Wednesday we ran Steel Bender with Ashman, Chad and Melissa.

Thursday we got up a bit earlier, we met up with the crew that had showed up and split up into 2 or 3 groups. I led a group through what was intended to be Poison Spider to Where Eagles Dare to Golden Spike to Rusty Nail (backwards) to Gold Bar Rim to maybe Long Canyon... But we had to cut a couple trails off the list for some reason.

We hit the trail head before 9 and had a glorious morning.

Everything was going pretty smoothly until we got about 5 minutes from "The Golden Crack". I heard a pop and a scrape and hopped out to this... That was 2" .250 wall 4130 Chromoly, snapped clean in half (no deformation at all).

I had forgotten my welder and grinder in the RV, but thankfully the other people in our group had my dumb ass covered! I sacrificed one of my recovery points/cooler mount parts since it was the correct size to slide inside the broken link.

After some cutting, grinding, hammering, cussing and welding we were back running in about an hour.

We skipped Rusty Nail and Long Canyon and were back at camp before 3PM. We dropped the dogs off at the RV and headed over to Dave Hellman's shop to borrow his lift, welder and some angle iron (permanently borrowed that). This was the result (after 4 more days of wheeling).
