Blazer's 68 Nova "Stephanie"

Got the brake lines all done. The hard lines and the two new front rubber ones.

Welded in the rear shock mount looks OK and will work fine. I can still mini tub it if I go that far which more then likely I will. The rear axle is already narrower then the factory one so I have a head start with that.

Got the new drive shaft in had it for like three years.

Got the old master cylinder out and tried to bench bleed the new one did not seem to work, so getting another one today. Going to figure out if I was doing it wrong too.

Have to find a shifter for it and still find some seats.

So a bit of an update

Master cylinder is in and bled.
Had to rebuild the carb so got that done tonight. The heater works :waytogo: and the trans drive shaft and rear axle can move.

Got it running and found out that it is in gear. Had to climb underneath and take it out of gear because I don't have a shifter yet. Got one its just in the garage.

So left to do. Bleed the brakes. Install shifter, need to find the part that goes on the transmission that the cable attaches to. Wire in the fan.

After that if the snow will melt I can get it on the ground and move it to the back yard on the pad.

Looks like a sweet car :waytogo:

Dunno if you've seen this before, but its what I thought of when I looked through the thread:

thats exactly what I have planned for the 6.0 vortec I got sitting here collecting dust find an old car dont care what it looks like as long as its solid it aint gonna be near as much of a monster as that thing though.

That is kind of the plan minus the $10k motor. Going to do the 350 in the garage after my other two projects are done.

Defiantly no bling paint or chrome. Going to be as stock as possible looking from the out side, might all be fiberglass but it will look stock.

So went out yesterday and did some work on the car.

Got the electric fan wired in so now it works on a switch, could not get it to work on a temp sensor but no big deal.

How ever have a issue the carb keeps getting filled with this white dirt like stuff. The filter is a dirty brown which is from the gas but the crap in the fuel bowl is white almost like a clay or paper mess. Clogs up the accelerator pump line and fills the bottom of the bowl.

I have a see through glass fuel filter on it anybody ever have one of those filters go bad it almost looks like the stuff in the bowl is the inside of the filter. However if you look at the filter it looks fine. I am going to take it apart and see what it feels like.

Kind of in a quandary with this. I cleaned the tank when I started doing all this. Added a can of seafoam, the filter is new and the carb is a different one and I have taken it apart and cleaned the whole carb twice.

Oh and my flexplate has worn out too, think my starter is loose or need a new flexplate.

Stuff in the yellow bottle it is called "heat". Although putting a torch to it may not be a bad idea either

So got the carb took apart and cleaned out.

Brother came down for a visit and we got the brakes bled.

Pulled and drained and cleaned the fuel tank.

Got it running and it is running like crap. Not idling, poping out the carb, good flame back fires too, just about lit myself on fire.

So timing is good or at least as good as I can get it when it wont idle. It really sounds like it has a few stuck lifters. Put a can of seafoam in the oil to see if they clear up. May be pulling the valve covers and doing a lifter adjustment again. :doah:

This thing was running fine at one time not to long ago. My only thought is more carb issues. Or lifters have gone flat or pumped up too much or who knows.

Kind of tired of farting around with it at this point. Not ready to put in the race motor or 454 so :dunno:

Think I am putting in the shifter and getting it to the back yard and parking it to work on the one ton.

So put in the shifter works sort of.

Drove it into the back yard popping out the carb and all

Put in the spot where the Dodge was so now the Dodge is out front.

Time to get started on the Cummins swap.

So been thinking about doing some work on this.

Still looking for seats but now that I got a shifter for the burb can use the Pro Stick for the Nova.

Maybe I will pull the battery out and put it on the charger and see about cleaning the carb before it gets to cold.

Wow it has been a year since I updated this thread.

Nothing to really update just pushed it out of the back yard to the front.

Decided to get it running for real though.

If the trans goes in the Volvo, I have a bicycle to ride until the F350 gets fixed and don't have enough money for that. So I thought I would get her going.

Going to drop the tank and clean the fuel line again. May even redo the line its to small anyway.

Have to kick around the idea of putting the race motor in, its a maybe at this point.

Did some work on it today, cleaned the rust out of the trunk, floor is a lot better shape then I thought it was going to be.

Cleaned out the inside too vacuumed a bunch of dead bees out. Going to pull the door panels at least the passenger side and clean out the rest of the bees that have at least two dead hives in there.

Pulled the cowl piece off and cleaned out all the leaves that were under it.

Got some rust converter paint stuff on the trunk and the passenger floor figure the driver floor just needs to be replaced so why bother. As do both of the rear passenger foot wells.

Still no real luck in finding seats not trying to hard but looking. May have to do some junk yard searching.

Going to start cleaning off the set of Hooker Headers I have for it.

Going to look into getting the tank cleaned or a new tank. As well as a new fuel line for it.

Did some more work on it over the last few days. Tank is shot well it needs to be boiled.

Boiling costs as much as a new tank. Fuel cell in the shop is much cheaper to put in.

Got a set of seats, $50. Spent about two hours trying to figure out how to put them in. Still not in or figured. Guy locally is selling a seat that is soposto be from a 71 Nova going to go look at it tomorrow, we will see. It is a bench which is what mine came with originally. Having a hard time with cutting a whole or anything to put in the fuel cell.

Having a bit of a hard time doing much to it, it needs a ton of work. I mean a real ton of work.

I haven't given up on it just being scared, well unsure cuz I am not sure what direction to go. Full on resto, bad a_ _ sleeper, or full on custom.
