Blazer's Tow rigs

I did find a rather nice Ford, not sure you can use the same words in a sentence, adult owned, new trans, 4 door, 97 or so with a 7.3

So I thought that I would keep the original thread I did on my K30, why add more threads to the mix.

Need some where to put updates on my tow rig anyway. Not joining another forum. So........

Fixed the tie rod today.
Checked the ball joints, all good
Changed the fuel filter and air filter
and fixed the leaky power steering pump

also got the cargo light to work and new bulb in the third brake light

only have the seat cover to fix then that is about it for now.

Pulled off the steering stabilizer have a new dual one just did not get it in, started raining. I am a wus and I hate the rain.

Little update

Dual steering stabilizer is is

Found out that I can just buy a brake controller and the truck is set up to put it in so really cool that it will be easy to put in.

Still looking of rims and tires

Found some MTR bead locks that would be cool on the burb but no money to buy them. Then the wheels on the burb would go on the Ford.

This just confused the hell outta me. First post is talking Ford, then replies are talking about Cummins swap in a Chevy.

So I will explain...........

Bought a 1980 3x3, 4x4 Chevy started a thread had a bunch of replies, which I cannot change.

Was going to do a Cummins swap decided to not do the swap like twice.

Crashed my DD Suburban, got some $$$ from it. Sold the 1980 got some more $$$.

Bought the Ford, needed something that got decent fuel mileage daily, could haul my family and tow Twinkie and get good mileage doing it. Oh and was around $5000.

So F350 got a name the kids named it Hostess because it tows Twinkie

Got some tires for it too the rims are going on Twinkie but for now they both are going on the truck.

Many new trucks have that set up, including my Durango, one simple plug wired to the brake controller and then plug in to the vehicle. So much better than having to run wires.

Did not get a picture yet but got my recovered drivers seat bottom in rather nice to be able to sit flat in the seat.

Going to go look at a few shells for it so I can have a place to sleep besides a tent if I want.

The only real downside to a shell is that you will take a hit on your mileage. Not a huge deal for most people, but it really does make a difference. On my Toy and my dad's Ram the difference is about 2 MPG with and without the shell.

So learned alot today

Don't forget to take off your hitch and ball when you sell your truck, wont be able to find them when you need them again.

Hummer rims look really cool on the front of a F350.

The hubs of said F350 in the back are bigger then in the front.

So cool looking Hummer rims don't fit in the back :doah:

Got some phone calls to make in the morning to see how cheap I can get 8 tires switched around on some rims.

Can't do the 40's at work they are too big says my boss.

I'd have done them by hand before I spent that much, but that is probably fair.
