Blazer's Tow rigs

Well it was eight of them and four are 40's and it was dismount and mount all eight and balance these four. These rims were on Twinkie.

They were done in just over an hour. I would still be doing them now had I tried it.

I also got a picture of the seat.

The left side was basically gone when I bought it. Think Dodge seat condition.

Color was as close as they could get, pretty close, good enough for me. they redid the foam too rather nice not leaning into the door all the time.

Do need a new cover on the steering wheel. I killed the cover scrubbing all the grease off of it.

So hooked the truck to the trailer. Lights work, brakes work, makes me happy :D

Took all the old rims to the scrap yard make $123 on the rims and $45 on some other scrap that I had. Fuel money for the Moab trip on Tuesday.

Took it to Moab this week towed rather nice

Ran ran in the high 70's most of the way there even went over Soldier Summit around 60. Which is not bad for stock.

Spent $300 or so on fuel which is about a third of what it cost me to take the 80 Chevy to Moab in September.

Have to spend about $150 tomorrow for new drums rotors hardware and shoes.

Put new pads on before I left so they should be good if not they are lifetime warrantied so I can just exchange them.

Could smell the front brakes when I stopped even at like 20 mph, thinking the rear ones are not working.

They may just need to be cleaned, lubed, and adjusted to start working.

From the amount of wear on the front rotors and the lack of pad that was on them I am thinking that the brake parts did not get replaced much.

So just going to go and buy all new after I figure out what size drums they are.

So got the brakes done, finished at about 100 in the morning

About five trips to Oreilly's trying to find the right socket to take the rear hubs off. Never did find one ended up borrowing my neighbors. Then crossed the number of his to get the right one ordered.

Then had to get the large brake parts box because mine had a bad adjuster cable.

Decided to have my drums turned instead of buying new ones. The shoes were shot but the drums looked pretty good.

Got them all done though, then did some ball joint checking on the front and......... need a driver side lower ball joint :doah: not sure how I feel about fixing it right now.

I have lost count of how many Ford ball joints I have replaced....
I feel your pain :doah:

So bit of an update

Been driving it ever once and awhile. Started pouring fuel out of somewhere no clue where.

Took it to a friend who works at a diesel shop, lift pump was leaking all over the place.

So got the lift pump replaced, by the friend book time is 6.5 hours he did it in like 30 min.

He said the fuel lines were shot so I got to replace those also so got that done.

Still have not done the ball joints yet. Have pretty much figured out that I am having my work do that, easier has a warranty and price not to bad.

Not sure about your year truck but my buddy had a 99 f 350 and his rear springs got brittle and started spitting out on the hwy. :eek1:

Might want to have a good look at them one day on yours...just to make sure.

So a bit of an update on the Ford. Been driving in a bit, like twice

Put 2000 miles on it in a year. That is with two Moab trips at about 700 miles round trip for each one.

Put a Chevy part on it today. Ended up redoing both the positive and negative battery cable ends on the drivers side battery.

Tires are wearing a bit, could be because of the bad ball joints that haven't get fixed yet  They are junk anyway so no real loss at this point.

Thought I would post another update

ball joints got done.

Been driving it a bit went to take it to work this morning got about three miles from home and it stopped moving.

Pulled over stopped and went to put it in park and it made the I'm still moving why you putting me in park noise.

So first guess is the trans took a dump.

Called for a price new with a three year warranty from Ford with a torque converter. $2600.00

So their goes my extra $$ down the drain. Going to check the fluid and stuff but I will be shocked and blessed if its just a fluid issue.

Sure the tcase didn't pop out of gear? Unless a shaft broke inside the trans how else could it make that noise?

Guessing it's got a bw1354 transfer case. I think they're notorious for wearing out the shift fork and making you loose gears. Mine did in my 95' f-250. It's easily fixable.

Doubt it's the transmission.

It does feel like it is in 4wd although the light on the dash does light up when you move the shifter into 4wd.

It was a bit low on fluid so put some more in. No change. Still moves better backwards then forward.

It does not go through any gears at all. Just runs up to like 2500 RPM and
5-7 MPH

So drove it down the road on the way to the shop to put a new trans in. Got it to go 20 mph for about two miles then it stopped going forward, ugh. Called a tow truck as it sat running, tow truck got there and then it decided to move. So drove it on the tow truck and then towed it to the shop. Drove off the truck and got it into a parking spot.

Hopefully be done in a week or so.
