Block Ground strap getting hot; wont start

There should be some empty threaded bolt holes near the lower front passenger corner of the block, just bolt it to those. Clean the area up with sandpeper, etc., so it's clean. If it won't reach that area, I'm assuming your AC compressor and perhaps AIR pump (if equipped) are in that area, one of those bolts could be used, again as long as the contact surfaces are all clean. No idea where it originally went on those setups, with the alternator on the passenger side, there is a hole in the top alternator bracket for the cable to bolt to.

Wouldn't hurt to use something designed to keep corrosion on electrical stuff down, like what's made for battery terminals. I think it's just dielectric grease, probably repackaged and sold for various dollar amounts. :)

Ok, about the core support ground wires, one of those that connects to the headlight ground bolt was getting hot and smoking and the truck wouldnt start. So I cut the m-effer off and the truck started. I really thought about not doing that too, but it started after that so I guess it was the right thing to do.

Bye bye headlights....

Removing any grounds simply increase the possibility of other electrical problems. Not a good idea, that needs to be something you fix, whatever's wrong may or may not have something to do with that issue as well.

 I FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!!! I came home from work and disconneted the neg cable from the frame and bolted it nice and tight to the A/C mount like you guys had said, crossed my fingers and BAM! Started up like a champ! Not only did it start up, but turned over better than I have ever heard it turn before; no clicking, hesitation or any of that crap! I felt the ground strap after and it was cool to the touch. I had been chasing something so simple.
Thank you so much for the help guys, I really appreciate it. I would buy all guys beers if I had the chance. I bow to you!:bow::bow:

You really need to connect a ground back to the where the one was smoking on your core support. I would also connect one to your frame from your battery one thing about ground is you can't have to many. In theory you should have one that goes from your battery to your engine and to the body and to the frame. All of your headlight and such ground to the body, which is rubber mounted to the frame. The engine grounds to itself which is rubber mounted to the frame. The battery ground needs to get to all three of these separately that is why three grounds are needed. that is why the ones were smoking they were taking volts/amps then they were able to handle.

The reason all these wires where smoking is your dc system is hunting for ground and the avenues you left it to take wheren't sufficient for the amp draw..

grds are one of those things where redundancy will not hurt anything...

Im gonna try to ground everything back to stock specs as much as i can. I now understand the importance of grounds. thanks again guys!
