Well I was driving home today after replacing the u joints on the driveshaft. I recently posted I was getting a grinding sound when letting off the throttle and now a rotating whine when braking hard. Today the driveshaft broke loose as well as the bolts that mount the t-case to the trans. The grind was still occurring after the u joint replacement so I wondered if it was the t-case. Well I guess it reared it's ugly head today. Because it is all kinds of jacked up. About to rebuild the t-case. That is the only thing I can think of to be wrong as the axles and 700r4 is newly rebuilt.

If you trashed your driveshaft, swapping to a fixed rear yoke 241 and building another new shaft may be your ticket if you think you need it.

I just pulled the old driveshaft with new u joints and the vibration in the t-case not only sheared the u joint at the t-case slip yoke but also ripped the bolts out that mount the t-case to trans. I am about to rebuild the t-case.... :( oh well. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Sorry for the double post there, was a crappy day. The driveshaft seems alright other than some scratches on the ears. So what's up with the 241 rear yoke?

He's talking about an SYE conversion.
But if you don't want to do that, and you haven't done the CV shaft, just do a CV and it will help with your vibrations. Just swap it out when you install the T-case and rotate the axle pinion up.

What is your current driveline set up and lift?

Right now it has four in springs in thr front and a shackle flip in the back, probably close to 6" realistically though. It has a 208 with a slip yoke and aftermarket lengthened driveshaft, no cv. Also it has a 14 bolt rear with the conversion joint at the pinion.

Well the transfer case breaking loose from the trans caused the housing to break on the trans. So now it needs a new housing. Not sure what all is wrong with the t-case yet.
