I helped a buddy with a 1998 dodge 1500 put on a body lift today...everything went great but when we started up the truck the brakes were stiff as a board and would hardly stop the truck. There is absolutely no play in the brake pedal. Anyone know what could have happened?

Good question...

Hmm--thats weird..maybe th E-brake cable got tightened when the cab lifted??..it should not affect the hydraulic part of the system, other than the steel lines to the master cylinder might not have enough "slack" in them, but thats rare...and would not affect the pedal anyway...this one is a puzzler...

You could also check to make sure the power booster vaccum hose did not get disconnected when the body was lifted up.

i would second 1-ton for the hard pedal but the truck would prob still stop. Maybe you kinked a brake line? dont forget to check the rear axle hose(s) too, i dont know dodge but it might be attached to the bed.
